Team 8 - In Early, Out L8 - Returning Champions

Going to be a great weekend! Heading to Orioles playoff game tomorrow afternoon then hunting Sunday and Monday. Cool temps should have them moving.

 

Sitting in a ground blind right now. Hoping for early movement with the falling Temps coming in the morning.

Buddy just called and said while out scouting he drove by my ground and in the field adjacent to my piece was a nice buck that I haven't seen on camera, figured upper 140s low 150s. Dude has killed a lot of big deer, Knows his stuff. Exciting!

Pulled the chips on the cameras on the way out. Biggest I got on the last pull is 100 8 pt. The corn needs to be picked! 10 days from now it will all change!

 

I screwed up last night. My target buck came in and I rushed the shot and shot right under him. He didn’t act like he was to boogered up. I watched for several minutes walking away. I’m going to stay away from that stand for a couple of weeks and hopefully he comes back.

If he’s in there and you think you didn’t spook him I’d be right back after him. Especially if your hunting over food and you have the same conditions!

Man that hurts after the effort you made to hunt last night. I agree with CJ. If he wasn't spooked stay on him. His pattern is going to change once the rut kicks in. Maybe hard to find him again....

I might try that spot again tomorrow morning. I hunted our lower farm this morning and seen 3 little bucks, doe, fawn and 14 turkeys. I’m getting ready to head back out.

I saw 4 small bucks last evening. Back up this morning and saw a 6 point at daybreak. Headed home after this mornings hunt. I got a flight to catch to El Paso tomorrow morning for work. Boss said the plant in Juarez needs help with the work centers they moved there from my plant. I hope to be back in stand in Ohio Friday afternoon. Good luck Team!

Ugh. Screwed the pooch this morning. Had 3 different opportunities to shoot a doe and couldn't do it. Got busted drawing on a pair, then the other 4 that worked in hit my scent and were on high alert, ozonics kept em around though. Then chair creaked and they had me pegged, couldn't draw. Just couldn't get it done. I'll have to regroup, not sure I'll be able to get out after this for a bit.

Ok... Family commitments done for a day; so I'm headed to the family farm to hunt this evening out of a shooting house I built three years ago. Should have a great wind for it.


Kids fly in tomorrow for our annual Happy Hollow Thank-Mas. Will be my last chance for a week.

No opportunities for me all weekend. Kind of wild since it was a perfect set up. Just picked the wrong places and kind of felt like I was spinning my wheels. The action should start to heat up though and I'm looking forward to seeing the woods light up with signs of the rut.

It'll happen. Sometimes I think we just have to put in so much time before we are blessed with an opportunity, but I know some just are lucky and can make it happen within their first couple of sits.
