Do any of you guys saddle hunt? I'm really intrigued and the fact that I'm connected to the tree the whole time with less chance of falling is becoming more and more necessary. I've been looking at a couple different rigs from Tetherd and TrophyLine. Wondering if you have discovered some essentials that are not included in those basic starter sets?

Hammer at my age saddle hunting is a non starter... But i can see how they would increase you options of treestand choices when t comes to pick just the right tree.

Love my Trophyline setup. I got the Covert Lite kit, Mission Platform, and Ascenders. Really enjoyed using it last fall. I’ll be using it a lot more this season. Opens up a lot of opportunities for stand locations where I hunt. Ascenders we’re an extra I bout and then a good bow hook system. I think I got mine from G3D.

I’m going to upgrade to the Venatic saddle when I find a buyer for my Covert Lite.

I use the Life Line on all of my Hang on Stands. I hook up at the bottom and keep sliding it up as I go up. I'm always connected to it. I don't feel safe anymore without one.

I don't even use climbers, we just don't have decent trees without cutting a lot of branches. Not a lot of pines round here.

Spent yesterday cutting shooting lanes and securing one of my old ladder stands with new ropes. Put up 2 new cameras. Getting pounded with rain right now, so hopefully those plots take off. We need the rain.

Bow has been feeling good, nice groups.

I use a Lone Wolf Sit and Stand climber. I suffer from vertigo so the hang ons don't work for me anymore and the climbers are limited to specific types of tree. Ones with few limbs or I have to cut a bunch. Thinking the saddle rig might expand my horizons for trees. ;)

Good many does are getting entered in the contest. I can't wait until season opener on Saturday. Low 50 and high of 72 degrees.

I will be hitting the woods for the first hunt this weekend. Looks warm but I have a walk in cooler so no worries here.

Elk hunt was a bust. Would you guys do me a favor? If I ever tell you I'm going back to Colorado for OTC elk, just go ahead and kick me in the nuts. Thanks.

Planning to go out on Sunday for the opener as well here in Illinois. I’ve got Sunday to hunt then I’ll be out of state for two weeks so hopefully I can knock down an early doe.

That makes me cringe just thinking about it. I don't think I could do that do another man unless he was harming one of my family members. I've heard that OTC is tough.

It can be very frustrating. I've heard OTC will soon be a thing of the past so hopefully I won't need to be kicked.

Colorado is going to a point system for most if not all GMUs in the next five years. Sucks for sure. This was the first year I didn't elk hunt in 12 years. I would have killed to be out there.

My first hunt of the season away from home and the baby and i feel a bit guilty.
Saw five stags and a hind this morning. One of the stags was a big 6 pt. Sikas are starting to rut. Chasing and a bunch of vocalizations.

At my other lease chasing whitetails now. Fingers crossed.

Good luck to all you guys getting out this weekend.
