Just signed a new three year contract on the river bottom lease. I was sweating it when the land owner hit me with a 1K bump request per year. We settle on half that and I was happy he came my way. I'll be 67 when this lease runs out... Hope my health and mind still has me in the game at 68!
Team 8.... As many of you know I attempted to do an award last year but due to what I thought was the winner simply not ever getting back on - I have decided that was merely a sign of not going about the award appropriately. The Dwayne Jones Award - honestly shouldn't just go to the biggest buck, but to the man that exhibited the best behavior for his team. Dwayne was a man whose smile was contagious and encouragement was endless. Since the 2022 recipient was never provided, I'm going to actually amend the process for giving the award to someone to the following, and believe this is truly how it was supposed to be all along and the silence was a way for things to be righted honestly: The team which wins the forum contest, will be asked to privately submit votes to myself of who on their team exhibited the most Dwayne like behavior; stayed active, encouraged check ins and was always keeping the team going if you will...perhaps especially even in the face of adversity themselves or a teammate. In short, they behaved like that of a true team member and captain everyone always loves having on their team. It isn't an MVP award in the sense of who provided the most points, but who provided the most to the team in every sense of the of the word (could be the same, but not the intent). So Team 8, I need a retroactive vote for your 2023 campaign of who each of you feel deserves the award. I truly want it to be swayed by no one, so if you disclose your vote here or attempt to encourage a vote a certain way here I'll not count your vote. What are we working with for tags this year fellers. I have my home state Sconny tag and will once again grace the public land of Northeast Kansas. One more year and Iowa should be on the list. Hung a set and moved another one this weekend on private. Strolled through the public and bumped a nice buck as well. It's going to be pretty much non-stop from here until January. Less than 10 weeks for me.
I have Ohio and PA. I'm getting good pictures of a buck I've been after in Ohio for 4 years. He's got to be 7 or 8 this year. My cameras have been down for 3 weeks. I'm headed back in 7/22 to plant my fall food plots. Hopefully I can get my cameras back up and running.

I didn't draw any tags for out west this year so I may be able to go for our opener in Wisconsin for once. I have a Wisconsin bear tag mixed in there as well. I never really get into the bear thing but if one crosses my path I will put it down. That reminds me, one tore down a cell cam of mine last night. It was hanging on a creek crossing and I'm sure it's sitting in water right now. Same thing happened last year in the same spot. I guess I know where to look for a bear.
