I ended up seeing 3 does, 3 fawns and a spike this morning. I came home to PA and look out my kitchen window and see several does, a spike and two 6 points. My wife always said she sees more at home when I'm in Ohio than I do. I'm starting to believe her. It's supposed to be really cold this weekend in Ohio and I'll be back out there on Friday. I went out to hang my freshly washed hunting clothes this evening and I could hear chasing in the woods behind me. It's that magical time of the year and it's time to put some down.

 

Heading out at lunch with my brother. Going to have funky ene wind. Putting him in my favorite stand by the river. I'm going to hunt off the ground in a fence row so I can do some long range scouting for later this week. Will be there at 1pm for the rest of the afternoon. Hope to just see some deer as my last 3 hunts there has been big zero's. Cameras have been showing all night time movement..

 

Looking forward to the cooler temps this weekend. I hope the forecast changes. Calling for 1 - 2 inches of rain on Friday.

 

Saturday is the start of our gun season. I'm a deer hunter first and foremost. Once it starts i'll be throwing cooper instead of stainless steel! Hope to close the deal on a good one before dark Friday night.... Otherwise the 308 might just fill my one and only buck tag for the year...

 

BTW,. I saw the big boy tonight 10 minutes before legal shooting time was over! Too far for archery, but he is in trouble if he does that Saturday!

 

Let's hope you get a chance at him before Saturday.

 

Headed over to the lease at 2 today to sit the winter wheat field bedding area. I'll be off the ground in the corner of the fence row. I hope he makes a appearance.

 

Let one fly, but hard shoulder hit. Really nice deer. Going to go track in about 10 mins.

Indeed. Hope I go right to him tomorrow. Anxious as hell. He didn't get up, but he wasn't dead yet either. Thankfully temps are dropping pretty hard tonight.
