My main hunting piece belongs to a friend. It is 80 acres, of which nearly half is swamp/bog. Walking around this weekend it seems the swamp has grown. We've had so much rain in the last several weeks that everything is very wet. Slogging through water and mud to get around to a couple of my hunting spots.

    Thats tough,
I have to cross a creek to get to one of my spots and if it gets a lot of rain it makes it a nightmare to find a spot to cross

Got our woods plot planted and a stand moved yesterday. I pulled some cards, and I still have a few shooters hanging around.

This guy is starting to show up more in the woods plot area. He has a bent brow that is quite unique.

Most of these are in the woods plot after spraying/tilling. Just before planting. We have a month to go before our opener, so their patterns very likely will change, but I would love it if they don't. Just hung a set back in alongside of this plot yesterday.

To me, pictures this time of year don't mean much. While I am getting pictures of bucks out of velvet they will disperse before season begins. Once I know what is sticking around the excitement will start.

Well, got put into a little bit of a dilemma, but a very good one though. About 2 weeks ago I decided to put a camera out with some corn at another location I am allowed to hunt. It has always been a good place during the rut and kept good deer around. So I run out yesterday and pull the card to see if anything has been by. First off I look at my stealth cam and see it says over 2600 pics, so that got me a little excited anyways. Go to look at my pics and I have quite a few deer and good bucks on camera then I get one same size if not bigger than the previous deer I posted on here(see page 1 I think). So I am sitting here with 3 days until the opener and not a tree stand hung in that area. I run back down there a little later to try to see about a tree stand location and can't really find a good spot. The open field makes a horse shoe shape and is flat. The inside of the horse shoe is woods but drops off so I would only be about 10 feet up and not good entry exit route either. The outside is up above but couldn't really find a good enough tree to have sight on deer without some major cutting. I did find one that didn't seem too bad that would give me a shot. So might try that, but man talk about changing up the game plan, ha. Plus this deer has been coming in during daylight consistently about every other day. Bad news is the wind is not in my favor saturday so probably sit out and go to the other spot. Anyways, just thought I'd share. For a guy that just started hunting hardcore about 5 years ago and never saw any deer and use to pull cards with 50 pics and be pumped it is exciting feeling. Anyways, good luck to all my Archers Eight buddies this season and may you all have an exciting, fun, and safe season! (I'll try to post a pic of the deer in a little bit).

Man that is sweet to be able to hunt 2 different states. You ever have a hard time deciding which place to go? Or do you set your sights on one state then after that you turn to the other? I bet times of year play a part of it too. It is just around the corner though for sure.

Want to see what you all think. I just hung a stand today around 4 and put more corn out. It has rained already and giving rain all night and periodically tomorrow. I did see 2 bucks while riding to the spot, one was at the corn. The temp is dropping from 72 today to 60 being the high tomorrow. Do you all think I should wait and give a day before hunting or get in there tomorrow? Figured deer would be on their feet. The deer spooked off from the atv. Not from me hanging, or i don't think. Thoughts?
