I made it out this evening. It was great to be back on stand. I saw 5 doe and one 5 pointer. The bugs were bad until the temperature started to drop then it got a little more comfortable. Ill probably sit again tomorrow on the same farm but different stand. We need some rain to get the wheat, oates, ect to germinate. It is very dry.
You and me both. I've been on a mission over the last couple years to get one and just haven't had the time to get out. This year i made it a point to take the time off work and go. These last few weeks have been hectic and was unsure if I would be able to go. But the plans are set. Heck. Your on the way I'll pick you up on my way down Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Sorry, guys. Busy weekend with finishing up a bathroom remodel. I did break away Saturday morning to shoot a local 3D with buddies as a tradition. It's a local hunting club that hosts it, and it's a blast. Very difficult course. Lots of elevation, odd shooting stances, and plenty of "threading the needle" style shots. I did pretty well, I believe I was fourth overall on the day, and one of the closest on the 100yd closest to the pin shot ( I hit 2.5" away). Really made me even more excited for our opener as it's a very wooded course and the leaves were changing. Just felt like hunting season. Anyways, good to see some of you are getting tree time. Good luck to all.
Big boy out at 630pm today... less then 2 weeks till bow season!! Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Hi guys! Just wanted to check in. It has been hotter than a billy goat with a blow torch here. It looks like temps are going to normalize possibly the tail end of next week. I did pull another card today. 3 week soak, I had 2000 pictures and my feeder might have had 50 Lbs of corn left in it.... Unfortunately they were all doe pics.... Crops are still in.... I am sure as the crops come out and we get a little later into the season I will start capturing more bucks on cam. Most likely sit in a stand sometime next week!
1 WEEK from Sunday! Ill be in a tree here in NE IL. Cant wait. its been 90 degrees here suppose to drop to a low of 47 opening day! high of 70. at what temp do you guys not hunt in? the crops an trees have really started to turn here should be an early fall for my Area.
We have high 80s here few days pushing 90, i need a temp drop to get in the woods Sent from my SM-G930P using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
If we get high temps and not much rain I'll sit on a water hole or water system. Some people neglect to realize deer live outside. When it's hot out deer don't go home and turn the A.C. on. Think outside the box. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
I meant i need a temp drop for me haha i hate sweating in the stand. Plus i can't shoot bucks till oct 7 Sent from my SM-G930P using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
We got 6 inches of rain Wednesday night/Thursday morning. It poured. I got completely soaked while working in it Thursday morning. Delivering pop in pouring rain sucks.... hoping the rain didn't come to late and my food plots blow up. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
I killed one of my biggest bucks in the evening when it was 80+ degrees. I usually hunt really hard from opening day on. Last couple year I have had burn out late October and didn't hunt near as much as I should during peak rut. I am trying to avoid that by not hunting early and the high temps help me stay grounded.
