Shot a 6 point this morning. Shot in spine so not ideal. Had to take a follow up shot. We just used the last 2 pkgs of grind from last year so nice to have some meat in freezer. I’ll get him posted when I get a chance. The last pick is for B hicks, lol

Glad your first sit was a winner! Congrats! Trying to shoot that doe in front on my son for good times spent with him and I got greedy. We set this stand opening weekend for him and I to hunt as much as possible together. I shouldn’t have taken that shot. 16 yards and quartering to. I was confident I could do it but got my pride smacked back on me. Wont do it again.
The deer I shot last year tried to turn and run at the shot so ended up being 1/4 to some. Got one lung and liver. Luckily he was wounded enough he only went 30 yards, bedded down and died shortly after. It’s just a tough shot and outcomes vary. Posted the buck on score card thread. Finished grinding the meat last night. Got #50 of meat so I’m happy. Planning on hunting tomorrow. Have another buck tag which is restricted to min of 4 points on one side. I also bought a doe tag. Anyone else hunting this weekend?

I finally made it to Kansas. I got most of my stands set and had a couple of morning sits. It's been hot and windy the past couple of days so it's been kind of slow. I've seen a few does and 1 small buck so far but I've gotten a couple of bigger bucks on camera at night. It's seems it still early in the rut yet here, but I need a cold front to get them moving during daylight.
