I am from Kentucky. I'm not old in my mind (59), but I am in my 21 year old daughter's mind lol. I will most likely kill a buck, usually pretty decent, 150 or better if before our rifle season opens, but come December I will find an older mature buck of any kind to take out if I still have a tag. I think I have killed a buck with the bow in this contest 5 out of the last 6 years (missed 2021 because I was in that silly Quest Hunt contest and i was targeting a 170 because my parter had killed a 194 and we had a great chance of winning our state). I am very fortunate to have access to thousands of acres of private land to hunt through permisson , although I do lease one 30 acre tract. I don't have any bucks consistent right now that I want to hunt, so it will probably be awhile before I hopefully connect. I think most of the ones I killed were at or over that 150 mark last few years. Best was a little over 180 that I entered here in 2022, and after drying it was just under 178 officially scored. When I do kill, if I do, I can promise one pic you will see is a nutsack selfie. Rock on. I will not shoot anything until I see if I can figure out this one first. Failed last year on him, as he is random and my place is not his home turf.

Good luck to everyone, and let's all embrace taking a nutsack selfie pic with our harvest.:nana:

Haha, I was glad to see you on our team as you typically shoot some big deer. The nut sack pics are a different story, lol

Doesn't seem to be any other takers for captain so I will let LC know I will be captain.

Please send the $100 membership fee to me asap. LMK if cash app, venmo, or paypal, lol.

We will go with Team 8....almost perfect and use the avatar I posted earlier. I'll edit it when I get a chance.

I'm sure most know the rules but I'll post brief summary

2 different photos of each deer harvested. Must have bow in both pictures. Nut sack pictures optional.

First buck taken must be the buck scored. Another buck or Doe is bonus deer worth 50 pts. First buck take less than 50 for antler score is Fergie buck worth 50 points ( my specialty). Any ?'s on score of buck or how to measure can be asked here or reference the pin post in the contest thread.

Think I got everything. Now, lets kill some deer!!

Well imagine you’re in your stand facing 12:00 position
Your shooting lane is at the 9:00 position (right handed)
At 5:30 I climb into stand & get ready, minus the Treezyn & HEC tops & buff (face covering) as it is HOT
At 5:37 a doe is noticed walking in at the 3:00 position and is about 17-20 yards away.
She’s unsettled & stomping while walking from the 3:00 position to the 12;00 position…. Then back to the 3:00 position for over 45 minutes.
Meantime, I pull my buff up, slip on my HEC top, slip on my Treezyn top, grab my bow, nick an arrow and wait.
Finally, she commits to the trail & is walking towards me…
At about 10:00 position I’m hidden while she walks behind a tree and I start to draw back…when my index finger hits the trigger & I send an arrow into the sky…
She doesn’t run but simply goes back to walking the 12:00-3:00 pattern again…which allows me to renock an arrow…she then simply walks away…after 45 minutes of chess

    I blew it

I was telling myself the bend at the waist & do not lower my arm…
I was telling myself to use my top pin
I was telling myself to pick a spot & the second I felt the trigger….it was too late
    I’m still embarrassed

I'm moving to my new house on opening weekend the 28th. I have killed a deer on that weekend about every year. I wont be in the tree on opening weekend this year but will be the first week of October. Being a stay at home dad has its perks. Hope to get us some points on the board that week.

That sux, atleast you saw some action. I've accidently hit the trigger on my release while drawing my bow, knocking my arrow off the rest but have never shot an arrow in the sky. Lol.

How do you like your HEC suit? Obviously you must believe that it works or you probably wouldn't wear one. Do you think it gives you a significant advantage over not wearing it at all? In your opinion, do you think it is worth the money?

Yes I do, the proof was in 2019 when I walked within 20 yards of my elk in Utah….in an open pasture. My guide, Quincy, told me to walk straight to its ass….we started the sneak at over 500 yards and at 75 yards I dropped the backpack and started walking slow towards the elk while he was facing the opposite direction…at 20 yards he turned to the left and the rest is on my wall

I can relate Brett on the miss hap. First deer I ever shot with a bow ( doe) I drew back, then let down to wait for a better shot. Didn’t realize when I let down the nock came off the string. Went to draw back again and arrow fell to the ground. Deer was only 15 yds to stand. Still was able to get another shot off but man what luck

Taking by son and daughter out for youth season tomorrow. We have an early antlerless firearm season next weekend. Might take the bow with me if I go. Getting close!

This is currently the biggest deer on the farm that I know of. He’s fairly consistent and patterned for now. No giant but I’ll probably take him if he comes by. Have two buck tags in Tennessee to use.
