So far I'm 3 for 3 starting with a nice buck my first year followed by a doe the next two.

I can get two archery tags which is for either sex. I would love to know what it's like to tag out.

Don't really have anythjng ln the wall myself, didnt really start hunting until getting back from military, so only been hunting since about 2007. Just been taking it real serious past couple years.

Here's one from the cabin at farm tho my buddy shot. Had same deer go by few times but never in range. Really bad part is he was 20 yards from stand knr morning at 10 am that I planned hunting but woke up late.

The one with me and the back of truck is a buck took during shotgun season. Smaller 8 pointer

Is anyone strictly bowhunting? I know in Texas, you can use a bow during the general season. Our dates are Sept 30-Nov 3 for archery only and Nov 4 - Jan 7 is general season. The public land I hunt is archery only all season so I have a lot of time to put some deer down.

I am planning on only bow hunting. I live in Missouri and you get 2 any deer tags and 2 turkey tags for archery. I can purchase as many antlerless tags as I want fir the county I hunt. I can bowhunt during gun season, but have to have a gun tag. So I usually just buy gun tag and keep at it during gun season with my bow?

Once you arrow a nice buck it's hard to go back to firearm hunting. These are the bucks I have killed in the last 4 years. My best was a gross of 183".

I will be spending most of my time in the woods with a bow this year due to the fact that our woods really slow down once gun starts Nov 15th. Ill probably go out for our gun opener and that is it, I want to try my new .450 Ruger out!

Also I sold my deer guns in 2012 after I shot a doe with my muzzleloader and gained no satisfaction from it and have hunted solely with a bow starting in 2013. Although I could have killed a buck or two since if I had a gun, I definitely wouldn't go back and change my decision to strictly bow hunt. I may get back into it a little when my boys are old enough to hunt but until then it's definitely bow only for me.

You guys are missing some good vacation time not being gun hunters lol

Gun hunting is more of a tradition now than something I get excited about. Love spending time with my dad and some buddies at hunt camp.

couldn't agree more, wouldn't trade in gun camp for anything. Sure not as exciting as bowhunting but you cant beat being in a cabin with friends, family and a jar of pickled eggs.

This year don't know how much I'll gun hunt since we can bowhunt. But probably still try it out a day or two. I still enjoy firearm season and it's a change for couple days.

I only considered a gun briefly but then decided to go archery because the season is longer and there is more to do with the bow in the off season. I never really put my bows away all year long.

I'm glad to see we are a primarily archery group. That will help us get points. My team last year, a couple of guys tagged out with firearms and never got any points with the bow. I know after i bought my bow, all it took was target practice before i decided to sell my rifle. Then when the season came, i put down my 133" and that's when i officially decided to be stricktly archery.

Wow, just downloaded the bhod app and I didn't know what I was missing, much preferred over the bbm app. I think the bhod app or website is easier so we don't have to go through more hoops. Anyone else's thoughts?

I'm OK with sticking to the forum.

Kinda makes it handy to be able to connect to the team no matter what device you happen to be using at the time.

I'll keep the BBM group open for anybody that wants to join in as a secondary method of communication.
