The house is coming along. It'll be a while before things feel normal again. Sent from my SM-G955U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
The deer seem to have completely left the area I have been hunting this season. Since this is my first year hunting here, I am guessing they have a different late season food source/pattern. I am hoping I don't get skunked this year, which would be a big bummer with all of the time I spent out there.
My season is rapidly coming to a close. My tag expires at the end of the year. I hope to get out at least one more time. Sent from my XT1030 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I will be going out for my last time this weekend here in Michigan. I've put over 150 hours in a tree this season which is the most I've ever hunted and not been successful. Even though things did not work out the way I wanted I still had a great season with a ton of sightings, most ever. I enjoyed all of the tactics and stories everyone shared on our team this year, so if I finish out the season without a deer I will still come away with some great information to use next year. Hope everyone has a great Christmas and New Year!
Well I had a terrible last day in the woods Saturday. I ended up calling my first CO to the property because I had a neighbor trespassing right in front of me Saturday morning. While I was sitting in my stand around 8am, one of our neighbors ended up driving a quad onto our property and stopping to hunt. Since I could not tell 100% if he was on our land or not, and I did not want to ruin my hunt, I waited him out for three hours before he finally left. I got out of my treestand and took some pictures of his tracks since we had snow then headed back to camp to call the CO. Turns out the CO was in our area on opening day to talk with these same neighbors. I sure hope them trespassing was the last draw and they wont be back since they are from Windsor, ON.
I'll be going out for my last sit this Saturday and Sunday. It's been a bad year for everyone around here. Between about 5 hunters that i work with, only one guy has put down a deer and his was a paid hunt.
Just got back from a two day hunt with a friend who is on a lease. Didn't see anything from the stand. May get out a couple more times before season ends but it is very possible that I will eat tag soup this year.
I can't say that my late season has been any better than you guys. I haven't been able to hunt as much as I wanted due to more pressing business. Now that it's pretty much concluded, the weather has taken a turn for the worse and I don't like to sit and freeze. It just takes the joy out of hunting for me. Clock is ticking down. Not looking good. Sent from my XT1030 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Luckily I was able to fill a couple tags during the gun season. Too frickin cold to go out now with my bow. Our woods has never been a late season spot. Sent from my SM-G930U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Just pulled my trail cams and got a video of a monster buck that I haven't seen before. If I figure out how to post it I will do so. Still have a couple of weeks left, so maybe there is hope...
Just wanted to stop back one more time and say congrats to everyone that killed this year and to say thanks for another great contest. For anyone that is still hunting good luck! MI season is over, I was lucky enough to shoot 4 seer this year with the latest being this last Saturday. Hopefully I'll see some familiar faces next year. My season is over as well. It's been great sharing it with you all. I'm starting practice with my recurve for the 2018 season. It's going to be interesting to say the least. Sent from my XT1030 using Tapatalk
I have until the end of January and may get out once or twice (if lucky). Probably going to a year of tag soup for me, unless I get really lucky. It was fun sharing some of the ups and downs of the season with you guys. I am learning so much from the site and appreciate some of the help you guys have offered.
