It's a big deal out here, just seems like most people don't want to shoot does. I was out on Thursday evening and saw a bachelor group of three bucks. They were sparring with each other, so it looks like pre-rut is about to kick into gear here. Super excited for that!

Congrats Nushart on the doe. The weather in MO has not been cooperative. I went yesterday morning and afternoon and didn't see a deer! Supposed to get to more normal temps this week into next weekend, so I hope that gets them on their feet!

I’m in the stand this evening. Hoping to poke a doe at least to put meat in the freezer and points on the board.

Congrats on the doe Nushart!

This weekend was a bust for me, was out from Friday night to Sunday morning and did not connect with anything, 75° and super windy was not a good mix of weather. I had one doe come into range but she did not give me time to make a ethical shot. Hoping this cold front pushing through this week makes for better hunting next weekend. I may try and get out one day this week to beat the weekend warriors into the woods.

 

Anyone have that one neighbor you hope and pray doesn't show up every year? We have these two yahoos that drive over from Windsor every year to hunt and I can't stand them. The one guy claims he has to hunt from his quad due to a disability and the other walks around drinking all the time. They drive their quads out at first light and will shoot anything that walks...I have seriously thought about out bidding them on their lease just to keep them away.

There is always that one guy or group of guys. Luckily and knocking on wood I haven't had that problem in quite some time but there is always that chance hunting small properties as I do and a lot of other do as well. Best of luck to you! If you decide to outbid him let me know I'll throw a few dollars your way just to help out lol. And just beware

They have 184 acres to hunt and they decide to sit right on the borders lol it kills me.

The guy they use to lease from started leasing to us because he didn't like how they hunted, I'm hoping his father follows suit and offers the land to us next year instead of the canadian guys. If we end up leasing the whole block ill let you know! Area has great potential just some bad apple hunters around.

 

My dad just leased 60 acres behind him to simply keep guys out of his back pocket. It's a shame that it has be done. But we have a big problem with Chicago people coming over and ruining good hunting like your Canadian neighbors are doing

I wasn't going to hunt this weekend but i can't pass up the coldest day of the year. Lows in the mid 30s and highs in the 50s makes this saturday just too good to pass up. Deer should be moving around a lot this weekend. Hope to get us more points.

Leaving work early today so I can hunt this afternoon. Have about an hour and a half drive to the property but I don't want to miss this cold front. This weekend is going to be windy and rainy, hopefully I get an opportunity tonight!

 

I'm getting out tomorrow evening and Friday evening. Then my wife leaves town and I will be watching the kids the rest of the weekend. I have a had a few close encounters, but have not brought home anything yet. Hoping my luck will change soon, as the rut should be getting into full swing a week from now.

 

Heading out after work Thursday and the weekend.. cooler temps should male for a good weekend

Not a huge fan of baseball but noticed it was more of a home run derby then a game.
I would like Houston to win because the Tigers couldn't do it for Verlander.
