Well, I didn't make it out yesterday like I wanted. The wind decided to blow from the wrong direction.

I had a good sit sunday afternoon/evening. I was just about to call it a day at about 6:30 when I heard some leaves crunching about 30 yards behind me. I sat it out and a group of 4 does got directly downwind of me at about 15 yards. As soon as they would get directly downwind, they would start the head bob / stomp, but they never could figure out what was happening. I was fascinated by their actions, ( I am still pretty new to this), so I just waited them out as still as I could be. I couldn't shoot because they were on the neighbor's property. This went on for about 15 minutes and they finally walked off out of range into the woods behind and North of me, although 1 of them finally blew twice and bolted, but the other 3 just went about their business. I climbed down, and picked up my Evercalm sponges, and as soon as I stepped out of the woods into the hay field, there stood 3 does. They stared at me for a bit and I finally had to get to my truck. They ran off about 75 yards, so i kept walking, thinking I am good. I looked behind me, and the"lead" doe was following at about 30 yards behind. She finally bolted 1 of my food plots. No venison yet, but what a cool experience! I did realize I need to move that particular stand about 30 yards North? More work for this Saturday! LOL

Some of the best hunting experiences and stories don't include a bow being drawn or arrow released.

When you leave your base layers out at night during a rain storm but plan to hunt the following evening, you improvise a drying rack!

I've got rain leaving at 12 and a ENE wind from 5-10 mph until dark. I'm heading to my new property for the first sit there of the year. The only thing I'm contemplating is stand choice. One is an observation stand I call 3 corner and the other is on the edge of a 100X100 yard bedding area, thick nasty impenetrable cattail/grass/thorn thicket with open hardwoods to my west corn to north and south and beans to my east. I think I may go with what cameras tell me

I wanted to get out for a first sit since moving my stand today but didn't get off work in time to make it happen.

Maybe I can make it work tomorrow afternoon.

This photo was sent to me by a co-worker who lives near my home. Hopefully I will see her one day soon. Magnificent!

I'll finally get to have a sit on Saturday. Only down side is temps could get into the 90s but at least I'll get some tree stand therapy.

Anyone ever see rain in the forecast and plan to sit in it?

I know they move in the rain but how are patterns affected, if they are?

I have rain in the forecast tonight and tomorrow.. lucky I have a box blind. So I will stay dry. The deer do move in the rain. The biggest concern I have about hunting in the rain... is shooting and tracking a deer. I tend to only shoot short range. I so use the 2 blade Rage and I've never had to trail more then 50yrds....most drop with in 30 yard..
