I'll take a pass on that.. I'll wait til it cools down a bit. I hate processing deer when it's that warm...let alone sitting in the heat.

I remember last year when I shot my buck in early November it was in the high 60's. We ended up leaving camp early because we had no way to keep meat cold, was a big bummer. I may go out for a doe sit in the afternoon but will not be sitting all day.

Sunday is the day! I'm hoping a couple patterns on 3 different bucks and the wind direction hold true until then! I've got a clean 120" 8pt that's been coming through like clock work nearly every morning past a stand I generally like to get in early in the season to kill a doe but I'm hoping that he decides to stroll by just after day break. And I've got a few smaller bucks coming through a high traffic area that my wife has her eye on. I'm checking cameras Friday after work and have my fingers crossed! Only time will tell.

I wish I could check cams more often, going in blind Sunday as I still haven't had any bucks show up on the wireless cam. Hopefully after Sunday I can pull some cards and see what's going on.

I sold my Synergy. Just got my old Jennings Reliant switched over from bowfishing to deer hunting. I forgot how well I shoot with it. Makes me wonder why I replaced it in the first place.

I hope to get back out on stand for an evening sit tomorrow and then maybe a morning sit Saturday morning.

Let's get some points on the board for Sunday! I am going in blind myself. I just scouted out an area of public land that I don't think gets hunted much. Found some deer sign near some spots on the river, but have no idea where they feed or bed. I will be using this part of the season to scout this out from the stand.

Going in blind and hunting whatever sign you can find right now is another kind of fun challenge that few people talk about.

It's probably hunting in its purest form. No bait, no food plot (another form of bait) no long term pattern from a camera, no hit list. Just read whatever sign is available and take what comes your way.

I agree. I've only been able to hunt public land for the past couple of years. I have a spot that is good during the rut and hoping to find some other spots this year.

I'll be headed out the door in an hour. Going to sit this morning and then probably pull the stand and move it to a new spot for the first part of October. Then move it again for the rut. Later in the month.

    I need more stands

Good Luck, I will be in the stand tomorrow night for the season opener. Hoping to sneak into a bedding area and see some movement. Have one more stand I can hang but I really hate doing that during the season, do you do it mid day or in the dark?

Had a doe and two button bucks come within 20 yds of me tonight. Could have shot the bucks 10 times over. The doe didn't give me a shot until she had me twisted around my tree facing backwards. Took the shot but didn't even see the tree limb from the tree next to me. Hit the limb and grazed the top side of the doe. Bummer as I was hoping to bring is in some points. Won't be getting out for a couple more weeks...

Hey guys. Thank you for all the support. It's going to be a tough season this year. Good thing about the storm is that it forced me to go out and buy a travel trailer so now I'll have a good place to stay when I get out for a weekend. It's still going to be a few weeks before I get out but with it still getting into the 90s here, I don't mind waiting. I have a 5 day hint planned for the weekend of thanksgiving. I'm hoping to get out a couple times before that bit it's all in the air right now. I haven't had any time to practice. I looked at my targets today and they are covered in mold. I'll try to start shooting again after I get a new target next week.

I usually hang my stands Mid day or late afternoon.

From now until the end of the season, the ground I hunt is usually used as a travel corridor. The deer usually bed on the neighboring property and only come by to feed or pass through. So me going in to hang a stand isn't quite so bothersome for them.

Glad to hear that you are making forward progress with the recovery. Taking some time away from it all to do a little hunting will be good for you. Good to step away from the stress of it all and decompress for a bit.

If anybody deserves to bag a big buck, it's you.
