Signed up for Lancaster Archery Classic and plan to start practicing for that. I’m not entirely throwing in the towel on a buck but it’s not looking likely at this point. All my spots down by me are played out or the landowners wouldn’t let me hunt due to EHD. Might be able to get on one at my in-laws around Christmas.

Although I saw him on Saturday evening and was pretty sure nobody shot him on Sunday, it's always nice to have confirmation of life after gun season eneds. I only have a small handful of opportunities left to hunt him, so I better make them count.

That's awesome - you're a better man than I am! We are shooting Bowhunter class at noon on Thursday. I like to get it out of the way and relax for the rest of the trip.

This is my first time attending so I’m just looking forward to experiencing it all. Didn’t know much about it til I watched my buddy Nate Root win it his first time there 3 or 4 years ago.

I was actually teaching a kids Bible class on Sunday AM and told them we had to watch him in the finals online. Talked about adversity or something like that to justify it, lol. By the end of it they were cheering for him!

Not sure what to say, fellas. It's been a heck of a year, and I am feeling incredibly blessed right now. After four close calls with this buck, he finally slipped up and gave me a shot last night. 35 yards, and I put it right through the pump house. Probably the most incredible blood trail I've ever had on any deer.

We got 7 inches of snow last night, so I'm headed up to my neighbors this evening. They've been seeing a really nice 8-point. Fingers crossed that he comes in. I put a trail camera up with some corn, but I think the cold weather killed the camera, unfortunately.

Great buck, Justin! I hunted yesterday evening and saw 8 does and a spike. The spike was the only one that offered a shot right at the end of shooting light. I'm out again this afternoon, hoping for better luck today.

No luck yesterday evening. I saw a bobcat at last light. It looks like most of the activity is in the morning. Lots of pictures of does in the morning and a couple of bucks worth shooting. Pay no attention to the date, the tall 9 pt was on camera early yesterday morning. I'll be out early tomorrow. STC_0027.jpg STC_0183.jpg

Nice! I'd shoot either one of those bucks. The 8pt at 9:30am is interesting. Thay seem to like that mineral lick.

Had a small 6 come in last night and I’ll be honest, I considered it.

But he bolted before I could make the final decision.

Last night at 10 and at 6:45 this morning this guy showed up and he’s the one the neighbors have been seeing. Broken G3 but I’d be happy with him.

And then the neighbor sent me this guy as well.

So we will see what shows up on camera. There’s a guy coming in to gun hunt this weekend. The place should be mine to play with after he’s gone.

The Insta360 is pretty sweet. Especially for recurve. Deer have to be close and that’s where it shines.

For sure! The closer the better. This was my 360 from Friday.

I've done a lot of hunting this week. I've seen several deer, but no shot opportunities. I'm hunting my east wind stand this evening. It has always been a great late season stand and has lots of late food sources, honey suckle, winter creeper, and hedge apples, just to name a few. I have seen
25-30 deer per set in the past. They usually come out of the thicket to feed before dark. 20251221_155318.jpg

Your view looks a lot different than ours up here! Although our snow should be gone entirely in the next day or two with these warm temps.

I took my boys out for one last hurrah this weekend and finally managed to get a deer down for my little guy. We had a doe and fawn come out to our North and start making their way down to us through some standing corn with about 15 minutes of legal light left. When the first one popped into the field and started feeding, I thought it was the doe - turns out it wasn't. That's how it goes sometimes! Perfect shot and a 50-yard recovery was a fun way to end the season and finally get his first official deer kill.
