My cousins decided they were going to cut firewood today, about 60 yards from the saddle I was sitting in. So I peeled out of there and ran back to the food plot. Don’t really have high hopes but it sure would be nice to be lucky.

I'm back in Oklahoma with my bow this afternoon. It is cool with a light North wind. They should be moving this evening.

It’s been kinda slow so far for my trip. Seen a few small bucks, temps are cold with a brisk wind.

Heard a podcast, and the guy said you need a dozen 2.5 year olds under your belt before you shoot a 140” buck. So I took his advise. Lol only four more to go before I kill a 140”! Shot him from the natural ground blind I threw together yesterday mid day. 30 yard shot. Got the heart and some lungs.

There was sarcasm in there. It just doesn’t type out well. Now to tie a bow on this hunting season with a gun doe next weekend

The wicked witch of the west must’ve snatched @Justin out in Kansas. Firearms season starts Saturday here in Indiana. They changed the rules for this year and .223/5.56 is now legal. I’m a little hesitant on taking my AR when the 30/06 does such a good job. Anybody have any experience shooting deer with .223?

Negative but we just switched to straight wall cartridges in Illinois last year. For several years I was anti gun hunting and would bow hunt gun season but I have matured to needing more meat and taking opportunities. I need to buy myself a new gun now lol

I have used the 360 buckhammer and suggest going bigger. I’m trying 400 legend this year.

I’ve heard great things about 400 legend as well as 450 bushmaster. Knock on the 350 legend was knock down power and lack of blood trails

Making game plans to try and get on one of these bucks this weekend. The smallest one is the best chance and closest to my property. The bottom one is an hour drive but I may go for it.

Home playoff game for our football team Saturday and I have to coach basketball before. Looking like Sunday is my only day to hunt this weekend and maybe before shotgun season.

I haven't given up. I have three more days to hunt before returning to work. After that, I'll just be hunting weekends. I'll be out in the morning hunting in Oklahoma.
