First public land buck super happy with him. This whole hunt was a big cluster I’m wore out in going to get him to the butcher and and bring the head home to score him. I’ve done all I can do guys get some deer down. [IMG]

Nice buck man! You need a few more dogs and hook them up to the sled for an easy drag out  my dogs would just lay down. Congrats!

I still hunted this morning into an area that’s really hard to hunt bc of swirling winds, but I wanted to see if there was any sign in there. I bumped a little 6 out of his bed, grunted at him and about ten minutes into our stand off, a bobcat kitten ran through. So I have a deer 15 yards and a bobcat kitten at 5 yards. It was after something and paid no attention to us. The buck and I watched the bobcat for about 5 minutes until it snuck off. I look back at the deer and he’s still moving towards me. At about ten yards he decided he didn’t want to be friends anymore and started blowing. I blew back. He was so confused.

I moved down and around to another ridge after he decided he didn’t like me, and bumped some turkeys. Standing in the log road contemplating my next move, I decided I’d just head on out and save the other half of the property for this evening. I turned to walk out and a full grown bobcat was ten yards behind me. No big bucks or big buck sign, but a fairy tale morning for sure.

All day sit for me. At 7:00 this morning I had a shooter working his way to the timber from the bean field and he wanted nothing to do with me. I’ve seen two midday does. One ran right behind me no buck in sight.

The buck i killed was following 50 yards behind a doe, waiting for her to move and not letting her get out of sight. I’m betting she was close.

Wind bumped a big 10. I was trying to get into the ravine and follow the creek up wind. He was one ditch down wind. Heard him sneeze a few times, tried to glass him, he blew, crossed the creek, and headed up the opposite ridge. I hooked around down wind from where he was bedded. Didn’t have his tail up and was sort of trot walking. Same spot I saw this buck two years ago only that day I was on the wrong side of the ravine. May be the same buck

I’m livid right now. Just had a shooter on a string and then I hear a vehicle in the field. Loggers haven’t been here in two weeks. They just pulled in with a semi to load logs. Wtf

Surely it won’t take till dark to load logs, maybe he’ll come back.

I was just telling my wife it’s November 1st. Normally I would be in a tree somewhere in southern Illinois but I’m sick as a dog sitting on my couch drinking coffee at the house. Anyway I’m leaving November 9th-16th heading north

Had action all morning so far. Very quiet this morning and I could hear deer shuffling while it was dark out. Gave it 30 min and just tickled the horns ever so slightly. Had 3 does at 25 yards and had a buck smashing things about 60 but couldn’t see him. He slipped behind them and they scurried out. I grunted a couple times and then had him at 25 but he was just small enough where I didn’t want to shoot him.
