I’m comfortable in the saddle, just not as still as if I were sitting. I have the tethrd phantom. For years I ran a ring of steps and the arches of my feet would kill me after a few hunts in a row. The platform solved that. I’ll look into the hip pinch thing though.

I decided last night I’ll keep the saddle and buy one more stick. It would be nice in most situations to be 4 sticks high. I run a 3 step aider on the bottom stick, but I have a lot of trouble getting my feet in them on the way down, so I really don’t want to run one on every stick.

Yeah I've never done all day in a saddle. Not sure I could. Typically I'll hunt 4-5 hours then get down and move to another spot and setup for the evening.

If I'm planning on sitting all day somewhere, it's hard to be a nice, big, comfy ladder stand.

Justin, I'm right there with you on the ladder stands. I'll be in one Sunday. I am seriously considering taking my crossbow. Deer are sometimes right on top of me at this stand location. I don't want to get busted trying to draw my bow.

It looks like Sunday night is the night to hunt this weekend. Supposed to storm all day tomorrow if it clears maybe I’ll sneak out. Mostly just want to make the 2 hour drive up to fill the water hole. It’s been so dry the last month it’s half empty since I filled it.

Me too just my work is making sure the deer don’t get thirsty I’m going to let the private sit one more week before I really dive in next weekend. I have a public spot that should have perfect conditions that hasn’t been hunted on an afternoon yet. I hunted it once on a morning sit and it was impossible to be stealthy getting in and I still had deer under me. I think with wet leaves and a perfect breeze it could be a good afternoon sit. I’m gona find out anyway. It’s actually only a couple hundred yards from where I got my opening weekend doe just further in the mess.

This thing dropped over 55 gallons in just over a month it’s been so dry and they have been hitting it so hard. Should be good till it freezes now though assuming we get only a little more rain.

The storms subsided, and the rain stopped this afternoon. My granddaughter, Gracie, wanted to get out for the youth hunt in Oklahoma. 20251018_162112.jpg

I watched two little bucks spar on and off for over 30 minutes. Hopefully, the racket they were making will draw in a bigger buck.

Bumped something ten yards from my stand an hour before legal light, it blew. Not sure if it circled downwind or another deer came in down wind, but got blown at again. Didn’t sound like it went but about 15 yards, but must’ve worked away. I got down at 11 and planned on moving a camera to a scrape, but nothings opened up yet. Going to hunt the other end of the property this evening

Saw that big, narrow racked buck at 60 yards. I am taking my granddaughter out this afternoon again. I will take my crossbow just in case. A couple more shooters have shown up as well. STC_0010.jpg STC_0014.jpg STC_0171.jpg STC_0044.jpg

Those are some really nice bucks! Looks like the 8pt won that battle. Some of your dates need adjustment.

First hunt for myself is tomorrow AM! Pouring rain all day and stopping at 4AM. Should be about 40° in the morning. Going to try and piece of public my brother has a trail camera on. It’s an hour north so hopefully a few more deer than down here. Had these bucks last year.

He’s actually never hunted it. So I’m going in blind and going to hang and hunt. Just excited to be in the woods.

I’m sitting in my living room with my feet up deciding on a route to take to my stand. About time to get dressed and head that way could be a fun sit.

I realized that but didn't have time to change it this morning. It was set correctly when I put it out.

The woods won tonight. The wind was swirling after I got set up, some does started blowing but chilled out and worked their way to the other field (I guess) My binoculars fell out of my bag and broke, hitting a climbing stick on the way down. I said F it, packed up, climb down, scouted around. Found some monster rubs from last year, but no scrapes to deploy a camera on.

I had taken tomorrow off in case I got on something today and needed another day to capitalize, but I still may not go to work :lmao2:
