This weather is killing us right now, but the middle of next week looks killer. Going to hunt Weds for sure. Tues/Thurs I have to coach football practice. My kids are off school next Friday & Monday so I'm going to try and get them out for their first hunts of the year.

That last hour before dark isn't bad once the sun goes down. There's no heat or humidity in the air so it cools off pretty quickly. My older son is all but begging me to take him out for a hunt, so I may cave and let him go one night. If we do that, I'll likely tag along and film him.

Next weekend I’ll be taking kids out for youth waterfowl so I may get a evening sit in if I get back in time from the Mississippi

We are tucked in. Originally my buddy was going to hunt with us. That would’ve been TIGHT. 80° in here.

I am working for free during the government shutdown. It is hard enough to focus on work this time of the year. I'll get off work at 12:30 tonight, drive 35-40 minutes home, and wake up at 4:30 a.m. for opening weekend in Oklahoma.

I have the Sitka Fanatic bibs and coat, it’s a love/hate relationship, I stay warm, especially in wind, but damn do I get picked off with the elevated ii camo. It could be bc I’m 275lbs and not 205 like I used to be, or it could be all the white in the camo. Maybe they got washed one time in regular detergent idk. But I’ll be switching colors when this stuff breaks.

I’ve been super busy this past week with buying and selling a house that I have lived in for 22 years. I should be completely moved tomorrow for all that’s going to be in a tree this weekend best of luck.

Mine are darker then that for sure I like the way they look. Never had a camo like that one you described except maybe in a bow

Well, pretty dead this morning. Had some does on camera in here yesterday morning and thought I could seal the deal on one today. I’m going to give it until 10:30 or so. This evening I’m probably going to set up between beans and some persimmon trees across the road and give that a shot.

No luck last night. With 45 minutes of light left the farmer decided to move his cows from one pasture to another using his side by side. About 150 yards from us. So that was a bummer since we planned it and drove over an hour.

I have a local buddy who has 6-7 does coming in every night. He has a big muddy box blind and a corn feeder about 100 yards from his house. Offered it to my daughters. The trad hunter in me isn’t a fan. It’s almost too easy. Deer can’t get your wind. Pretty much a slam dunk minus the shot. But, with EHD smacking most of my other options…it may be my only option to get my daughter there first deer this year.
