I haven't used the app in a long time, but I'll have someone check it out.

Fortunately,we've had a good rain/sun pattern here in Northern IL as well. My food plots look great. Some of my guys in central IL are hurting pretty bad right now. It's been super dry down there.

Weather isn't looking great for next week, but it could still be decent on opening day. I'm on a doe mission this year so if I get a chance at one early, she's going down.

This guy meandered through my plot in the middle of the night last night. Can't wait to get out and chase these critters soon!

I'm sure the lack of pictures has everything to do with acorns hitting the ground.

I did get one today. Plot doesn’t look as good as I’d hoped. It was a motocross track for 20 years before it was a food plot, so the dirt is sub par. Every year I say I’m going to do a soil sample but I’m afraid to know how much lime I need. Must’ve been a picture of said acorns falling

First order of business will be getting my daughters a shot at a deer in the early season. Our season comes in tomorrow, but I think most folks around me have elected not to hunt due to the EHD killing off most of the herd or so it seems. Two of my land owners have asked me not to hunt this year because of it. My buddy about an hour north hasn’t had any loss losses and so he’s setting up a blind for my girls to get a chance next weekend. I might get a wild hair and slip up to some public land further north on Monday and see what happens.

I hunted both morning and evening yesterday and didn't see any from the stand. I won't have a chance to get out again until Saturday. I am planning to hunt in Oklahoma this weekend.

That looks like a real good deer to me, I now have pictures I think 5 different bucks I would shoot. Usually I’m lucky to have 2 I feel like I have a real shot at a good deer on the private this year. My real goal is to get my first public land buck though so hopefully I get one down before I even set foot on the private.

What part of IL are you hunting?

This heat is BRUTAL right now. Mid-upper 80's for the end of September is terrible. Thankfully we get a little bit of a break on Weds so I'm hoping that afternoon sit is productive. I have a fresh scrape near some white oaks that are dropping acorns, and there is water close as well. Hoping for the best, but it's going to be nice to be in a tree with a bow in my hand again.

My private land is in whiteside county and I live about an hour south of the quad cities right on the river and there is a fair amount of public within an hour of me. A lot of it seems hardly utilized by other then duck hunters on the river so we will see how the early season goes. I’m a weekend warrior until the 24th then I have 23 days off. I might not sit the private until my vacation I’m only getting night pictures now which is normal. I brought my bow to a different bow tech Friday and he said the tune was off a bit so he made an adjustment and I re paper tuned to shoot bullets. I’m not gona mess with the fixed blades until either the off season or until I feel like I have too. Felt good to be hitting where I was aiming again after the last fiasco haha

It’s supposed to be 83 here on Wednesday. Still don’t know if I want to do a close hunt and shake the first sit problems out or get in the woods a little further. I’m leaning towards option A. Had some small bucks pop up on camera the other night. Still no shooters and I don’t expect to see any on camera for a week or two.

Bunch of Northern IL bros on this team. I like it! Most of my local hunting is done in McHenry and Lake County. My lease is out near Todd's farm in JoDaviess. It's a haul to get out there, but it's a lot more peaceful than hunting the suburbs.
