Season starts tomorrow and I already had a tough time sleeping! Maybe that means I'll be tired enough tonight to get some shut-eye

My season Starts here in Illinois October 1st and I have to take a doe on the big property I hunt before I can take a buck. So this morning before sunrise I got in the stand to see if I could film any deer coming through the woods from the corn field, it was a bit warm but the skeeters werent to bad . I gave that spot a couple of hours and wasnt to impressed with what I was seeing
    so,
I snuck outa there and headed to a spot where I was positive Doe's were bedding. It was a ankle breaking thorn and vine infested thicket just full of beds that were full of deer hair and I needed to find a tree for opening day to hang my climber in, I had seen the does on the fringe of this area on a regular basis so I did some quiet stalking on the fringe of the thicket and was able to sneak up to within 10 yards of a bedded doe. The doe did hear me and stood up but wasnt sure what it was and she didnt see me so she just stood there offering me a perfect 10 yard broadside shot, if only it had been opening day I would of had my doe by 9:00am already.
I think I'll be back in this spot opening day in a nice tree I picked out for my climber.

    Hurry up Sept 26th!

Bad thing is, I cant hunt the opening weekend evenings. My 7 year old son is in a fall baseball league and their tournaments are that weekend. We have been having double headers every Sunday and they are 6-2 right now, with both losses coming to the same team. Today we won the first game 17-7 and the second game 30-3.

Yesterday I picked up a new Summit Open Shot Deluxe. Does anyone know if it was supposed to come with the backpack straps? I searched everywhere and mine didnt come with them.

No luck on the Sat opener in WI. It was hot. I should have been sitting on that waterhole! But now I prepped a stand site there so next time I'll be good!

I am heading up to Portage, Wi area this Friday for a 1 day hunt on my unc's property and I am pretty stoked at my odds at scoring. Nice cool front has moved in and a low of 44 is forcasted. This should
get them up and moving about a little early in the afternoon.

Good luck Tony. I might get a chance to get out there for Sun eve, if not I'll be hunting on Mon am and pm. You have a buck tag from last year or do you need to score a doe first? i need to get a doe first.
