I dont know what it is. Had nice bucks and does on trail cameras all summer long. I just cant connect in this one spot. I know there deer there but none are showing on the trail camera's. The only thing I cant think of is one other guy that hunts the land uses a four wheeler but that shouldn't spook the deer

I beg to differ on that, a four wheeler can spook deer. Anything they associate with danger is gonna spook them.

Well guys, back to my public land reality this week. Hard hunting all week. But, I always hold out hope that doing things right will eventually get a good buck within range. I will be eating and sleeping whitetails from Monday-Saturday....5 all day sits, one 10-dark. KILL.

Hunted pretty hard the end of last week. Have been seeing a lot of young bucks on the move and half heartedly checking does. Passed on a 3 1/2 yr. old 10 yesterday that would have scored around 125-130, just needs another year or two. Took today off to recharge, will be hunting every day this coming week. I would guess in the next three or four days things will be on fire around here. Good luck to all headed out, now is the time to be in a tree!!!

No luck for me this weekend.. Passed the same 130" 10 pt twice. It's getting hard to pass those kind of bucks when i know they'll be shot by neighbors with gun in 2 weeks. I know there's at least 3, 150" bucks in that area though so I couldn't shoot him. Out of 4 of us hunting, nobody got anything or even saw any shooters. Not seeing many mature does either. Are the big guys locked down with does already? Hoping to get back out next weekend for the last weekend of bow season here in WI.

Good luck tomorrow guys. Buck Bullies mount up! This time change is tough as I will have to be up at 4am and will be hunting from sun-up until 130pm or so.

Man, last weekend got all messed up. The owner was there for 4 days right before me arriving, putting in a gravel road.
Then, a neighbors 11 horses escaped and were running wild throughout the property all weekend. Saw the one cruising young buck, fun stuff! :)
This Friday I go on vacation for 9 days, and hopefully the deer will be calmed down by then, or I'll be one miserable camper.

I had a mature doe walk past me at tens yards last night, I heard something coming behind her in a hurry and I thought this was it!, turns out it was her button buck fawn :( has anyone seen this before? A button buck staying with a doe this late in the season. And side note the button buck looked extremely small for this time of year as well. Maybe a late birth???

Well, the truck is packed, and I leave in the morning for 6 days of bowhunting. I then go to another farm for the 3 day shotgun season, I'm pumped!
The forecast for next week looks killer, cold front and north winds, and I expect some serious action.
I plan on giving it all I got.

I finally got an Iphone, so I can give updates, and I'll be keeping an eye on you guys.
Good rut hunting everyone, and let's get some more bone on the ground!

FEB, I have faith in you man! I bet you are pumped to be in the woods for nine solid days on great spots. Someone on this team has to break the ice and get us another deer on the ground and I think it will be you. :) I will be looking for updates from you.

A bit of good news for me as my friend invited me back up to hunt a day and half on his place in big buckville, VA. This is the same spot where I saw 60 deer in a day and a half last time. If I see and get around half that many I will be ecstatic. I plan on putting down the first decent buck I encounter.
