ill be shooting some ramcats and grim reapers this year. i have though about switching to a true fixed blade, but i keep hearing great things about the ramcats, ill give them a go. besides, i already own them... money's gettin kinda tight this year.. ill hopefully be setting up my camera tomorrow! cant wait!
Big fan of standard spitfires but I have a bunch of other broadheads lying around Ive used over the years that im thinking of using so I may go with my old trusty Jak hammers.
Looks like I might have a chance to hunt for a couple of hours this afternoon if I get back in time from my daughter's soccer game. Looking to knock down a doe.
Just my luck as serious thunderstorms rolled in over my area. 50-60 mph winds and raining like heck. Hunted in a mild downpour for two hours and then got the last thirty minutes of good weather before the sun set. 0 deer seen. At least I set the tone for my season as the rain stunk and I sat through it.
Well at least you made it out. I was wondering if you got hit by the storm we did here cause it was nasty. Im going to head out monday after work although I didnt tell(ask) the wife yet.
Well guys not looking good for me to go out after work tomorrow. I have only a couple spots to hunt in NJ and the wind just aint gonna cut it for tomorrow. Saturday is the opener in pa so hopefully ill get out early next week. Definitely will be going out on friday the 21st probably be able to make it out before then.
I've been on Muzzy's pro staff for years... I use their steel-ferruled 125-grain MX-3 screwed into one of their 50-grain brass inserts for a total of 175 grains up front. I use the same setup for elk and whitetail.
Using 125 grain Muzzy standard 3 blade broadheads. Been my most consistent broadhead over the years and I am excited to get back to using them after a couple years off.
so, got out, set up camera, installed new batteries and card, and dont ya know, the thing dont even turn on. what a piece of junk. i guess ill have to do as they did in the olden days... go buy another one... just kidding. but i dont think ill be able to afford a new camera any time soon. so, hears my question to you all... how do you differentiate between deer trails that are more utilized, and ones that are less walked upon. im hunting my grandfathers land. its in a good spot. i have two forests with a creek running on one side, and a swamp in the middle with conservation in another corner. there are tons of trails going every witch way. i just want an edge when it comes to picking which trails to hunt. i have a ground blind that im hoping will help me utilize a couple different trails as i can move in a couple minutes. i want to put my one tree stand near the shallow spot in the creek were there has always been a lot of deer traffic. thanks guys, Brian.
Mitch, how do you like the new rage. did they go to a o-ring-less system? i have seen the new NAP heads that are a rear deploying system just like the rages are. i was thinking about giving one of these a try, but just don't know if i wanna pony up the $40 quite yet.
Just a little update , instead of waiting for oct 15 here in mass im hunting sept 27-30 in newyork hopefully I can tag a doe and get that out of the way
I love the new Rage. They did go to a system without an o-ring on the new 2.3" cutting diameters, but the 2" chisel tip that I got still has o-rings.
