I think I screwed up the measurements. I believe I get more mass measurements. I will try and rescore tomorrow Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I measured mine about 6 times just to make sure lol. If you need any help just let me know or theres a how to thread also on the contest page.
I am looking at it and you have a problem. You only get for mass measurements on each side. Every buck gets four H measurements, whether it's a 16 point or a six point.
Congrats on a great deer!!!! I hunted hard all weekend and passed up a number of opportunities to add a doe to the freezer, but with the buck movement I was seeing I just couldn't pull the trigger. I ended up passing a really nice 4 year old 9 pointer first thing on Sat morning. He was a good deer, but just not what I was looking for to end my season. Sat night I was feet away from killing a really nice buck but, as fate would have it, he just never gave me the shot I needed. When he finally did, it was too dark. Then yesterday morning I was pulling my sticks down around 9:30 to go help a buddy track a deer and had a nice 10-point walk right past me. Doh!! Contemplating an all-day sit either tomorrow or Thursday out at my lease before the gunners start mowing them all down.
Well boys I shot right under a good 10. Gave him a haircut. Sorry I’m sucking for you all lol I’m not giving up though! I’m not against shooting a doe now if one comes in around the time I have to get down… Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Dang it!!! That hurts. But hang in there, things can change in seconds this time of year. Yesterday I watched a buck chase 4 does across probably 1/2 mile of open field and end up in a new woodlot at 12:30 in the afternoon.
I haven’t seen any chasing. Saturday evening I just got up the tree at 3:07 and at 3:08 I seen a four pointer and behind him was nice 10 pointer. He bedded 40 yards from me and took a couple of naps and chewed on his cud until around 4:30. Then he got up and walked 5 yards from me. I didn’t have an extra buck tag so I had to let him walk. But he was in no hurry to go anywhere. I wonder if the chasing is happening at night and they are bedded during the day? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
It definitely happens! I wish I could say I took home every deer I shot at but I’d be lying. Made it back to Ohio from Missouri yesterday. I’m going to work for a week and a half then head back out there. I’ll have another buck tag then and a doe tag. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Got him all cleaned up and on the wall. His roast was amazing last night! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well guys Kansas was a bust for me. I got a shot on a 130-140 10 point and I hit the shoulder blade. Tracked him for about 120 yds and lost blood. My buddy and I searched for him about 5 hrs. I brought in a friends deer tracking dog and no love. My cousin said the saw him on camera a few days later moving fine. I hunted hard the rest of the week with no luck. I concentrated on my best friend getting his first ever bow kill and Kansas buck, which he did. It is entered on the score card for him. Small buck but his first. Super proud of him. I am planning to try to make another hunt in December back in Kansas as long as work can support it. I’ll keep you up to date on my endeavors here in Louisiana as well.
Dang man, that's a bummer!! But we have all been there before. Keep after it! Hopefully you can get back before the season is out. I'm taking a little break from hunting this week. I've been hitting the gym in the morning and getting caught up at work so we can hopefully have a strong ending to the year. I may or may not hunt either tomorrow morning or Friday morning - haven't really decided yet. There aren't many bucks on my local farms that I really care to chase right now, so it makes getting up early and sitting in the cold less appealing than usual. And I don't want to shoot any does here since our deer numbers aren't the best. Hopefully I'll be able to get out to one of my leases in December and have a crack at a doe for the freezer.
