I’m going to put some points on the board for us this weekend if it’s the last thing I do lol I’ve honestly been trying really hard but I know it will come together at some point. I’m not kidding when I say yesterday morning I sit until 10:45 without seeing the doe I seen the morning before feeding under a loan white oak before going to bed. I thought maybe they were onto me cuz the wind was iffy. No sooner do I repel down I hear a stick break and look over and she’s staring at me at 10 yards. I just had to laugh…but anyway I’m trying like hell to get a doe down. Haven’t even remotely tried to find any bucks. All the while I’m also trying to get my gf her first deer. We are definitely due though. Gonna take all of us at least shooting a doe to have a chance at this thing.

My nephew is out at the property right now in MO hunting this week. He has not let an arrow fly yet but yesterday morning he saw a nice one 65 yards out. I was out there this past weekend and saw one made a rub right in front of my blind.

And heres another buck we currently have running around. He's still young yet.

Went out last night and saw 8 doe, there were a bunch if other deer in the corn but I couldn't see because of the timber. I would have shot a doe but I'm not big on shooting them with fawns, just a personal preference. I also had a bunch if work today and it would have been a bit chaotic trying to get her skinned up and what not. It's been raining all day woth high winds tonight, more rain tomorrow as well bit it's supposed to lighten up a bit. I'm thinking about heading out tomorrow since im done with work at noon but it'll be the third hunt I've sat in the rain but both times I've had good movement the last 30 mins. Good luck if you guys are getting out this weekend!

Off work at 7am until Monday night. Just got a permit through the state to hunt a piece of private land that looks awesome! Ag and woods on the map it looks like. Gonna go check it out tomorrow evening. Probably do a hang and hunt and decide if I want to get a permit the following day also. I’ve never tried this program but recently discovered it and excited! Wish me luck fellas and goodluck to all of you this weekend also!

This buck has been showing up all over one of my farms the past week or so. I'm torn between whether he's 3 or 4 and if I want to shoot him or not. I guess I will make that call if and when I run into him at some point.

Trying to get after it tonight. Have a little drizzle coming in, slightly off wind, but have a good feeling that they'll be moving after the rain we've had yesterday and today. The gusts of wind are around 16-20 so we'll see. I also have a fall turkey tag. Wouldn't mind shooting my first gobbler, even though that doesn't get us any points haha 20231013_162304.jpg

Haven’t heard from a few guys for awhile..hopefully they don’t forget about us if they whack one lol just got set up. Hunting between two rain storms. Saw deer in the fields on the way in and the rain just stopped. Fingers crossed.

I'm gearing up to hunt sika deer on MD's Eastern Shore this coming weekend. My nephew's got access to private land and it's always been a fun & productive trip in the past. (Sika are an exotic small elk species that thrive in the swamps).

Saturday night I got skunked, but couldn't see more than 40 yards from my stand, so that wasn't all that unexpected.

Last night I had four does come right under me, but I have a strict policy against shooting does on Sunday nights so they all got the free pass. Plus, I was looking for a particular buck who showed up about 30 minutes before dark. It was picture perfect, and he was doing EXACTLY what he was supposed to do, until he got to 45 yards, took a hard left for some unknown reason, and ended up downwind of me. When an 8-year-old buck gets a big whiff of you, no matter how good your scent control game is, it's game over.

Hoping to get out somewhere tomorrow afternoon before it warms up on Weds. May or may not shoot a doe if given the opportunity. It's getting pretty bucky out there so it may be antlers or bust until December.

Here's the one I saw last night. He's right around 50 yards here and if he just keeps walking the way he's going he would have ended up 20 yards upwind of me. But, as it usually does, things didn't quite go my way.

I walked past 3 big scrapes. Maybe I should follow that policy of no shooting does on Sunday. But then I wouldn’t be able to shoot anything.

You just have to hold out for a buck! The way I look at it, if I'm out late on a Sunday night it had darn well better be worth it. That's what I keep telling myself anyways.

That's a beaut of a buck. Bummer he decided to go down wind. Hopefully you'll get a crack at him again. I think the oldest buck I've probably ever seen is 4 ha.
