Just saw your guys’ story on fb! New lease looks promising for sure! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
No doubt there are some deer on it. The problem is I really don't know that I'll find any time to get down there. I'm putting most of my time into my local farms that don't have as many deer, but there are a few decent ones around. As for me, I'm shooting Easton FMJ 340s with NAP Spitfire XXXs like usual. Total weight is right at 500 grains, give or take.
Does your clarifier ever get water droplets on where it would screw up your vision? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Ok, so it's a black gold sight with a 2X magnifier https://blackgoldsights.com/accessories/lens-kits/ and then here is the clarifier. https://www.hamskeaarchery.com/product/insight-deluxe-peep-kit/
It's second nature to me now. Being in the optical industry I always have a lens cloth in my pocket and my glasses, binos, sights, range finders, and anything else with optics or a screen gets wiped all the time. I haven't had any fogging issues.
Had a new guy walk in front of my camera this morning. It’s getting close to the time where new buck move in. According to past intel mid October is when their patterns change there and the bigger boys show up. Just in time for them to start looking for the ladies which we have plenty of to go around. I retired from tracking (knee issues), but a good, good friend called me on a track that he was helping. They lost the blood trail after 400yds the previous night and wondered if I was available (yesterday), also assuring me the track was on gentle terrain. I took Amber and we started ~100yds from the end of last blood. Amber nailed the known track and continued on. At about 300yds from last blood, we found a smattering of fresh blood - the buck was still alive and stood in the spot for a brief while. Although the bleeding stopped there, Amber continued to track. (Tracking dogs follow dander and other scents the deer emit, and not just blood scent). After another 400yds, I suspected that we were never going to catch up to the buck (no more bleeding, no beds), so I called it. Although no recovery, the hunter got a little bit of closure and I got the pleasure of working Amber!

It’s supposed to be 84 here tomorrow. Going to skip hunting and set a few stands instead. Good luck who is going out tomorrow Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Good luck to you fellas who's season starts tomorrow. Super excited for the team to get out and start laying down some deer. I won't be sitting at all this week since I am on-call but trying to gmgo sit Friday or Saturday. Saturday it's supposed to be a huge drop in Temps here with a high around 54 and lows around 39 which should spark some movement. On another note, I just sold my novix minis today and going to pick up a couple of latitude outdoors sticks which I'll use with my one tethrd one stick which I'd get more of but right now am working with a tight budget. Any of you guys run the latitude sticks?
Gonna try it again this evening. Probably going to skip the morning hunt tomorrow before I go back to work. The amount of acorns in the woods this year is proving to make things very difficult. Watched two doe yesterday get out of their beds and start feeding. They didn’t move 40 yards for almost 2 hours… Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
got a stand set this afternoon in a cow pasture bottom. Should be a good spot Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Yeah that’s what I’ve been doing. Problem is there’s so many they don’t make it to me in time. Wind swirls so much in these hills that I can only get so close to their beds on these tops with these hollers. Too dang hot to get them up earlier ha. Gonna get aggressive in the morning and get on the point super early and hopefully they will in their bedroom when daylight hits Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Kinda looking like I may not hunt for myself until sometime around the 15th. If I'm lucky I'll be able to get my boys out this Friday and/or Sunday afternoon. Heck, I haven't even bought my Illinois tags yet.
With this cold front do you guys still hunt the fringes or go little deeper in Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
