Setting up a mock scrape this weekend that has had a lot of success in the past - Usually stays hot through the rut! Anyone else have plans this weekend?
Probable check camera's on Sunday. Stands are all ready for opening weekend of bow season Sept 13. Need to get out and shoot my slug gun for when I go to Iowa in December.
So I have a predicament this rifle season... We have not gotten a single buck on cam in over a month at the 80 acres that I have rifle hunted for the last 10 years. We always have pictures of bucks... At least 1 or 2 shooters. The 56 acres I have been bowhunting I've gotten tons of pictures of bucks. One 10 that I am after and know there are bigger deer in the area. This 56 acres will be hunted by someone who I'm not too fond of when it comes to hunting. He likes to get down at 9am and come up to your stand and ask if you want to go in, etc, etc... I will have a tough choice to make come opening weekend. Hopefully I can just seal the deal in the next 2 weeks with my bow.
Im sue the property you gun hunt will be holding some bucks by your rifle season. But worse comes to worse you can hunt those 56 acres and ask the guy to leave you alone.
Just got done sighting the rifle in. All ready to go. 2 weeks from tomorrow. I have quite a few pictures of bucks at my gun stand. I'm pumped.
NY gun season starts up next Saturday but i'm not getting out till Sunday! Hoping to get out Thursday to check the zero one last time
Have some bruisers running around the property... Have left it alone for about 2 weeks now. 2 8's about 120" and a giant 10 we have been getting daylight shots of. I will be sure to keep you guys updated! For whatever reason... No matter how much I bow hunt, the night before rifle season opens I am unable to sleep!

Well I was able to get out today and sight in my rifle. First couple shots were a little low but most after that were in the bullseye. Looks like i'm all ready for next Sunday!
Tonight's hunt was a disaster... My big brother and I get out there late (3:00). I forgot my clip at home and have no shells in the truck...had to go back to town for shells. Get back at 345 and get to the stand at 400. Deer already in the field and they blow out. About 5 I reach into my pocket... The entire bottle of tinks I had in there leaked and is everywhere. Saw one. We did hear bucks fighting and some grunting but they didn't show. Hope tomorrow plays out better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Passed 2 does and had a 4pt at 50yds broadside in the field... Passed the shot. Back at it this Saturday. We have 12 inches of snow and supposed to be 20 degrees for a high.
Well opening day is tomorrow for NY but I wont get out until Sunday as usual. There is a possibility that ill get out tomorrow afternoon though.
