We have gone from drought to non-stop rain. I know the turnips don't like to have wet feet and worry that my plot might actually be getting too much rain after waiting all summer for enough rain to plant. It's too muddy to even go pull camera cards. I hope we can miss the next couple of days storms that are likely. On a brighter note, it did stop raining long enough this weekend to take my two sons bass fishing and we had tremendous luck. We caught over 50 bass in two hours. All were thrown back to fight again.

Weekend recap:: Left my house at 5:00am Friday morning headed 5.5 hours north to southern Illinois. Arrived on public land around 10:30 had my first camera out by lunch. Jumped a really good buck on the way in. Continued to scout threw Sunday. We found 3 more spots to hunt that had good sign 80% of the land we hunt is surrounded by corn. We are planning on going back up to hunt the first part of October and check the camera.
I'm planning to hunt Saturday. We will have a break in the heat and maybe some rain this weekend so hopefully that will get the deer moving. This heat is killing daytime activity.
I am starting my season next weekend in Wyoming chasing elk, so unfortunately it will be late september by the time I get going on deer. I hunt ND and MN for Muleys and whitetails, we will see how this season goes but I have a a Mule deer buck tag, a whitetail buck tag, and two doe tags to fill as well as my bull Elk tag!
I wish you luck on filling all those tags. Can't wait to fallowing along keep us posted. Elk and mule deer are both on my bucket list.
Well team, I finally got my hunting areas finished up. All lanes have been cut, plot is in, cameras are up and going, and bow stands are in place. Had to fight through a windy and rainy weekend last weekend to get my East TX area finished, but I’m finally ready to hunt! Hopefully I’ll have some pics to post before too long. Good luck to all of you and be safe out there.
I hunted this morning but didn't see a thing. Heavy rain, thunder, and lightning. Had a big tree fall within 60 yards of me so that for the heart rate going. Ha! Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app

Today was a kinda bitter sweet day. We sold our hunting farm. My father-in law and I owned 310 acre along with his cousin. We came to agreement last winter that we should sale. We put it in the market and after a few months of going around and around with buyers we finally got a contract signed. Closing date is December 1. I'm on the hunt for another pice of land. And there's not much out there in my price range.
I understand completely. I sold my best farm this Spring. The big money moving in made it just too valuable to sit there with no income for a selfish use. The money will let me retire early and hunt all over. I still have a good farm and am also looking for another small tract. Hopefully, something with a small lake for fishing. I hope you find what you are looking for!
