Went out today the snow is still a little to deep but it did give me a chance to check out this new area. I was disappointed with what I saw, little to no tracks in what was once a great area. I won't be heading back there, next weekend should be an Illinois shed hunt. Good luck
Well guys I have not had any time to shed hunt, plus everyone I have talked to say they are still seeing bucks with both antlers on their heads. Anyway I will be going to look for sheds on the week of march 18 at a place I usually find a few. I have lost my honey hole of sheds to the oil field. I did look in the woods behind the shop at work and found 3 old ones. So I am officially on the board. Not a big start but hopefully it will get better.
Thanks bud. I went out today to a place its only 3 acres and found two more but I cant count the one cause to me it looks like it has been broken of instead of shed so I have one more to add to the count. I think its still to early here, I found a lot of fresh rubs. The one shed was laying at a rub. I also found a cow horn. Here are some pics.
Sorry I haven't been contributing yet. The snow was just getting manageable on our parts of the land here in WI an d now my hope to get out is diminished as were getting dumped on outside. Going to be awhile again now.
I went out for three hours this past weekend and came up with nothing. I haven't hit any of my good properties yet, so hopefully I can get somewhere between 10-20.
The count down has started. I will be leaving Monday morning to go out to west Texas to do a week long shed hunt. I hope to bring back a few.
Dunn did yall get any of that snow from last week? I was in Iawa and they got 3to 8 inches in different areas and I thought it was headed your way.
Well its almost time I will be leaving in 6 or 7 hours to go for the week of shed hunting. I hope to make my team proud.
Well guys I am back. I had a wonderful week. I did manage to find 69 sheds and 5 dead heads (actually I found about 12 but they were does or already missing there antlers so I did not count them) and 1 broke off antler. There were a lot of bucks with there head gear still attached, probably 50/50 to those that had shed. I will post some pics of those in the trail cam section later. I have lay pics of most antlers I found and will put them on a separate post so not to spam this thread. I am going to try and go back one more time this year if all works out with work. There were a lot of nice deer this year and I would like to get more of them sheds. That should put my total now to 73 sheds, 6 dead heads and 2 broke off antlers. The first pics are all the shed just two different angles and the third is the matched sheds and the forth is all the best ones I found. I have also added a pic of a gray fox I had walked up on while looking for sheds. I took the pics with my phone. I also added a pic of the largest rub I think I have ever seen.
This past weekend I went to my hunting property and came up with 19 sheds, 2 dead heads, and 1 broken antler. It was a good weekend. I will maybe make it out a few more times but doubt I come up with much more. Congrats to all that have been having success finding sheds.
Thanks Woodman, it was a blast. Congrats GCLIFT. Now we need to update the team score. I hope to get another chance to go out this season.
We had one last year. I can't remember. Stupid old age..... I found my first today only a spike, I still have a lot of snow but it's raing so the next week or so I should be able to get serious.
Cool yea I wish the snow would end I been hitting it every time I go up there. Good luck on your search. We need a captain if we dont got one so he can update our scores.Atleast we will show to be on the board.
