Hey guys we had a situation arise in scoring that ended up with a captains vote. I copied @soccerdan90’s post he sent to his team. It is below. He explained it pretty well. Warning everyone again. When you shoot a deer you MUST have 2 pictures with your bow and deer in it. If you record your hunt it must have footage of the shot plus recovery of the deer with the bow present for it to count. There have already been 2 bucks entered so far that have been voted on by the captains. 1 he took pictures without the bow but then took pictures of the head and quartered deer with his bow. We counted it. The 2nd one was a bow hunt or die team member. He has the footage of the shot but didn’t have the bow present for the recovery. I think we are going to count it even though the rules say it shouldn’t. Every team should be getting this warning.
What was the report from last weekend? I got out to do some scouting for a couple of hours but that was about it. Nothing real exciting for me.
I got one of the 8 pointers I’m after on cam during daylight on Sunday. If he keeps that up then he’ll die soon. There’s a lot of hunters in this particular area Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just got this picture. It’s the same 8 point that was in daylight in my other cam on Sunday Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I’m gonna finally make it out tomorrow afternoon. I’ll keep the team posted, hopefully put some venison in the freezer and points on the board.
Quick update from Wyoming while we're in town. I got my pronghorn day one and my buddy Ian got his Mikey doe this evening. We're now headed south for my buck deer tag. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
Given that it was our first day, I brought him to a butcher in Gillette and will pick him up on the way home. Needles to say, I don't know. My buddy got his muley doe he was after last night, do now it's down to me to fill my buck tag prior to Saturday evening. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
My cell cam posted up under my ladder stand sent me 4 sets of images, one was my target buck about an hour ago. Never in the right place, or state for that matter. I've heard from a bunch of different people that EHD hit hard in Wyoming last year. Based on what I'm not seeing, I completely agree. I've hiked over 40 and have seen a total of 8 deer. A lot of pronghorn, but so few deer. This is a beautiful place to be frustrated in. Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk
I’m hunting this afternoon It’s muzzleload season here but I’m going hard with the bow! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm back at home boys. Filled my pronghorn and antlerless deer tags on the trip. For my first western trip and doing it myself without any help beyond listening to podcasts, I'm calling it a big success. In total, I hiked north of 56 miles during my six day trip. Those two critters are going to taste extra good given the effort put forth. Wyoming is a beautiful state and the eastern side had more terrain than I was expecting. I'd happily go back again. I ended up getting a shot on a 3x3 ranged at 353, but missed somehow. I don't know what happened as I didn't see the bullet impact. I assume it went over his back as he gave me a second opportunity. I ranged him again and got the same (basic) result, 356; I shot again and missed a second time. Three possible scenarios I can think of: 1 excitement caused me to punch the trigger twice in a row, which is hard to believe given I slowed down for the second shot, two they were farther out and I was not seeing the thing that was being targeted by my laser, or my scope got bumped and is no longer shooting accurately out to that distance. The only thing that will tell is to get back out to the range and make sure I'm shooting straight at that distance. It's good to be back home but I can't wait to do it again. How is everyone’s season coming? I’ve been out a few times here in PA with not much luck, going for a quick sit before work tomorrow then a longer sit or two Saturday
