    Anyone besides Reese hunting yet?

Our seasons opens 3 weeks from tomorrow. Looks like most the corn crop and a lot of the beans on our farm should be out by then. I'm willing to bet that the acorns are going to be getting a lot of action by then.

Now THAT would have been a good team name!!!

This weekend will be the last of stand tweaking at another property.
The following weekend I'll be hunting in Wisco
(Why am I excited? I never see Jack that early in the season!! But I have to go anyways )

I believe the season starts Sept. 20th here but I won't start hunting until the end of Oct. Might try some walk in areas for a warm up.

Is that by choice Clint, or some other reason? Just curious.

It's by choice. Never see too many big bucks in the early season. Lots of does but I can get them once it gets cooler. Don't want to get burnt out or burn my stands out just to see turkey and does. The big boys start moving in on our ground the end of Oct. The best week is usually Thanksgiving week. The week before is pretty good too. I've got Thanksgiving week off and am trying to get the week before too. Of the four bucks I've shot the earliest was around Nov 18th. Only had a couple opportunities at good bucks before the 18th, one at the end of Oct and the other around Vets day.

I'll be in the stand this coming Wednesday but much like kshunter I don't expect much until mid October or so. With the crops still in the field and most of the good bucks on camera roaming nocternal I plan on trying to take a couple does early and then leave the woods alone for a few weeks.

Unfortunately my better half has put the brakes on my early season. Sold our house and bought another, with the possesion date of Oct 15th. I've been busy packing and moving stuff into storage unit. I have one last bass tournament this weekend and then hopefully will be able to get in a couple of early morning hunts. The g/f and I have a weekend hunt planned next weekend ( annual getaway ). Hoping to get a decent kill on film with her as last year didnt pan out for her to get it on film.

Will, I don't believe I would ever be able to get used to living in that country. So many different species to chase, I think I would be in heaven. I'm so wrapped up here in just hunting whitetails, it's hard for me to imagine what elk, mule deer, and everything else Colorado has to offer would do to me.

Reese, I'm in the same boat as you on the moving. We are trying to pretty much rebuild the old farm house on our family farm. It was built by my great-grandpa when he first bought the land waaaaaayyyyy back in the day. My dad was an employee for the Illinois DNR, so when he had his stroke in May of 2009 he had to retire and also was told to move from the house in the state park he worked at. We have completely gutted the old house and also added on some new rooms and a garage. Hope to have all the plumbers, electricians out and dry wall hung by the time season rolls around. It may clog up some hunting time, but I'm going to be out there every chance I get.

Put up the last couple of sets in Illinois over the weekend, I'm pumped about this season with the corn coming down already.

I've really been debating about going for Wisconsin's opener this weekend. I was'nt going to go if the weather was like last year,
    in the mid 80's.
But they're calling for a low of 42 and high of 59, so it looks like I'm goin!

    That's awesome Aaron, congrats!

PT, that Ohio license may be the ticket to breaking your streak too!
