I'm still hoping to tag a late season buck, but time is not on my side.

Put primer on the walls last night, and put the first coat of paint on the ceilings. Were supposed to be starting on the walls today.

I woke up this morning to see the first snowfall of the year had hit. Were only supposed to be getting around 2"(NOTHING compared to what you've got up there Reese lol). I would love to get in a tree this afternoon, but winds are blowing 30 mph+.

I had a great weekend In South Dakota. My good friend Mark Perry (dear friend with cancer...every moment with him is precious) and I saw plenty of deer and turkeys. The two of us had a gas chasing critters around!

I'm kicking myself though. I missed a huge 130 class 10 pointer. The deer would have been my biggest Black Hills buck to date... definitely worth sticking it out in the 3 degree temps.

I had the buck at 27 yards totally broadside. I releashed my arrow 30 minutes after legal light. I had a difficult time seeing the arrow's flight (early overcast skys), but everything about the shot felt perfect. After the buck crash away through the oak brush, I immediately looked to the sky and said, "Thank you Lord!" Then, twelve more deer filtered past while I was waiting.

I climbed down and walked to the exact spot the deer was standing...not a drop of blood anywhere (had four inches of fresh snow). There was, however, a six foot patch of scattered hair laying on top of the snow. I followed tracks for 1000 yards, again not a drop of blood. I never found my arrow, but the snow hampered the search. I surmise the buck dropped a tad on the shot and got a free hair cut. We saw him today bedded down on a hillside within private property. I looked him over pretty well with my 12x binocs. I couldn't see a thing wrong with him other than some hair missing on the top of his back.

Stay after it guys...keep hunting...let's keep this team together!

Yep, Jan 15th, so get your a$$ out there and put down a slammer! :whip:

It would be nice to see a couple of us with tags left connect yet this year, preferably one or two of us with buck tags.

YAY!!!!!! my snow dance for ya worked....only one problem it backfired on me and left some -30C weather here.....the bucks are dropping headgear like crazy. I had a buddy shoot a respectable 12pointer....walked up to it and SWORE there were antlers on him before he shot. Turns out the buck lost both sides in his death run.

Stay warm and hunt safe guys!!

Your pressure indicator doesn't go up when you have a bowel movement?

Ya gotta admit, they're making it a horse race again!

    X 2 bro lol.

I've spent the last 3 days spraying primer, rolling ceilings, and painting the walls. Just a few more finishing touches, and then it's time to put the floor down.

On the bright side....I get a free pass to hunt tomorrow afternoon!!!

I'm going to try to get out tomorrow afternoon, Saturday afternoon and then over Christmas weekend.

Looks like the deer have grouped up some so it's probably going to be feast or famine here on out for me.

So who can add points to our team yet? Not that I am asking anyone to shoot something they don't want to....just curious as to what are chances are of adding some more points...

Very slim chance for me. There isn't a reliable food source on our property this time of year, but I can't kill them from the couch.

Yep, and they will be my main focus.

The neighbors have standing corn and beans, so I have a feeling there are a lot of deer wintered up over there.

Going out this weekend looking for a birthday buck. If not this weekend something with horns is going down after Christmas. I just have a good feeling about it. Good luck to those still trying.
