Congrats Reese taht is one awesome buck...!! I'm still waiting, I can't get on nothing but little bucks that wouldn't break 50"... lol. I'm trying though.... :D
Ok guys......now I am outta hot water As many of you know my g\f and I have recently taken possesion of our new home...with a TON of reno's to be done.pics and story to follow Here is how today went... My father is a plumber....who needed to help me with the install of the new whirlpool tub that is sitting in my somewhat of a master bedroom lol I drove out to their place to pick him up...on my way out.....my mother calls me...tells me hightower |( yes after police academy) has been crossing their property every morning..I turn around and pick my bow up ( only 2mins away from house) I was only going there to pick up my climber as Leanne gave me the go ahead for a sunday sit. I walk back out to where my climber is...bow in hand. Thought WTH.....a 45min sit during the rut can not hurt. Climb up....I can hear chasing and crashing... The doe comes in my shooting lane..I can see the 4 bucks hanging back...then I see hightower, tending this doe.... A few years ago....a customer of mine who does trad only told me, ancher the doe....the buck will come back.... I thought hell if I anchor the doe...its 50 points for the teams LOL...little do I know what would transpire. I hit the doe back too far(gut/liver)...she took three steps and I sent the second arrow thru her and anchored her...after that high tower made his way over to her giving me a 20yard quartering away shot, which I took, I watched him tuck his tail mule kick and take off to parts unknown, only to watch him pile up within 30 yards. The younger bucks were crashing and charging around it was unreal, grunts , stompinh, hell I took a pic of my arrow only to be about to be run over by a couple of youngsters, literally 2 feet away. It was a crazy day for me, not to mention my 2010 season is done....aside from some grouse hunting with the bride and the dog. Best of luck out there gents.....I am truly thankful for the work I have accomplised on our home..( pics and story to follow) WARNING that will be longer than this one HAHAHA [/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] Dudes....I need to clarify...This is MY first BOW buck....,I have whacked my share of does......but this is my first buck with my 3rd bow....I had imposed a 5 doe limit on each bow....this was my first year with me bear lights out, after tuning it and setting it up for my arrows, I knew it was ready to rock!!! best of luck to the rest of the guys out there....I will attept to get this scored this weekend....Scott/Dan/Will gimme a shout to go thru it boys...|I dont wanna screw it up......this guy will be going on my wall!!!!!!! Thank you soooooo much BH.com and member you all are amazing!!!!!

Awesome story Reese. The size of the neck and body on that thing is unbelievable. Congrats again dude! That is one great buck, and makes it even better that it was your first with your bow!!! I'm getting ready to walk out the door for the drive to the farm. Got a call from a buddy last night that had killed his largest buck to date last Thursday afternoon a 127" 8 pointer, and I guess he put another arrow through a 149" 11 pointer this past Thursday morning. He was definantly pumped up......I'm ready to kill something.

Congrats again PT. I told you that this was your year to break your drought, and you have done more than break it.....you have kicked it's ass. Thinks are dead for me right now, compared to sightings from previous years. There is even very little deer sign around our farm right now. To be honest, I'm pretty confused as to where to go from here. This morning I went to my good rut stand. Had a doe come by right at dawn, and followed shortly after by another mature doe. I looked at both through the binocs, and their tarsals were as dark as could be. I was waiting for a love sick buck to be on their trail. A short time later I heard a few grunts, and saw a small 8 pointer right behind me on the same trail as the does had traveled. His nose was to the ground, and hot on their trail. He just wasn't what I wanted. I let another 6 pointer walk around 10:00. I took an hour off to help my little cousin hang a gun stand on his dad's property across the road from our farm. The spot I picked out for him is going to produce a slammer. I counted 12 rubs, and 8 scrapes all within 100 yards of each other on the edge of a very large thicket. I begged him to let me hunt it this week, he said no lol. This afternoon I watched 2 forks try to rape a doe in a cut bean field through my binocs. They just kept running circles around the poor gal. I'm letting the farm rest tomorrow, since I have to get down early anyways. It was filled with gun hunters hanging stands for Friday's opener, so I'm going to the public land. I need to get my stand down out of there anyways. Maybe with a little luck the ghost of the buck I was after has a brother out there.....
Did not hunt this morning......going to re-tape the buck with my boys and this time I am doing it))). Will post score in a little while. Dave
Re-taped and believe it or not they had it right except for a few minor changes but then they added it up wrong.....I came up with 115 2/8th. Will post it up now. Dave
I definantly had an entertaining hunt this morning. The parking on this public ground used to be very strict until this year. Now you are allowed to park anywhere on the boundary lines, as long as your vehicle is out of the way. This has made getting into the hard to get areas a lot easier...and people have taken notice. The 180"+ non-typical was killed in the SE corner, along with 2 160 class 10 pointers. This spot in previous years was a long and hard hike to get into before dawn, and there were only a handful of us that would hunt this little honeyhole of a ridge. Now it is just a short walk up the hill from the highway. I got into my stand about an hour before dark, and could hear deer walking back along the ridge as they returned to their beds. About 6:40, just 20 minutes after dawn, I see something moving. I grab my binocs and it's another hunter. I try to get his attention by waving my hat. He sees it and decides to come on over to the base of my tree and introduce himself lol. Our conversation went a little like this: "Hunter"-Hey man how's it going this morning. Me-Get out of here and quit ruining it for us both. "Hunter"-Yea I know sorry, I'm just looking for a place to hang my climber, you ever see much back in here? Me-No "Hunter"-Alright well I'm going to go set up down this way. Good luck to you. I shook my head in disbelief and couldn'tdo anything but start laughing my ass off. As the guy finally found a tree and got settled in about 80 yards to my North, he proceeds to show off his calling ability by going through a sequence rattling, grunting, and using his can call for several minutes in a row before stopping. I finally got down around 9:30 without ever seeing a deer. Took my stand down, and can't wait to get back to our farm now lol.
LOL...bummer Scott. I know it's tough to remain positive when things happen like that. But you must. You are simply being tested. We have faith in you! YOU OWN THIS! PT, triple atta boy! You were beig tested too. Way to stay firm at the plate! Dave, the score looks good. Nice buck my friend. Shoot me a PM with your telephone number. I'll call you today. Reese, awesome hunt! Your story demonstrates the positive possibilities out there! Thirty seconds or thirty minutes can be a life changer. Life is soooooo short! It's silly not to take advantage of every second! Wish I was there to help you with the house....I would. I had an interesting Saturday. I left my home at 3:00am for a 5 hour snowy/icy road trip to Lusk, Wyoming. The 13th of November was essentially a "fill the freezer" day. Buffalo would do quite nicely. I had good friends Justin Loose (my PSE regional rep) and Pat Manley along for the hunt (both were going to shoot buffs-Justin via bow and Pat via Rifle). Miss_Jessica ( Jessica Edd), from this very forum, met the three of us in Lusk. I invited Jess to be the shooter of my beast-since I have had the joy of killing many in the past. Here's a little video of Jess trying to anchor her buff. The first clip is after she took her first shot; the second clip is her second shot. The beast absorbed her first shot like a tank absorbs small arms fire. As you watch, keep in mind we're hunting an eight square mile ranch filled with deep draws and coulees. Jess lunged her buff and it has already travel a 1/2 mile! We're trying to knock it down before it fell in an unaccessible location. Packing out a 1200 monster is no fun! It's best if you can drive a truck up to them after they're down! http://s277.photobucket.com/albums/kk73/iamyourhuckleberry/?action=view¤t=M2U00761.mp4 http://s277.photobucket.com/albums/kk73/iamyourhuckleberry/?action=view¤t=M2U00762.mp4 Pat took my advice and shot his buff 2 inches behind the base of the its ear. This shot usually drops them in their tracks (as the video clip shows). http://s277.photobucket.com/albums/kk73/iamyourhuckleberry/?action=view¤t=M2U00764.mp4 At noon, I guided Justin to a spot and stalk bison of his own. It took us several hours to gain ground. The animals were riled up after the gun hunters had their way.... Justin dropped his buff with a single arrow from 43 yards. Bows and broadheads, in the right hands, are super lethal on these huge animals (Let me add, the success rate w/ bow is less than 20% on this ranch). Justin's cow was down within twenty yards! Justin was using a 70 pound PSE "Omen", by the way. After the hunt, the skinning, cleaning, packing, and traveling put us back home at 3am. It was a long eventful day for sure! I'm taking Sunday off...Lord knows I need the rest! Check out this buck we saw on the Wyoming ranch. He was busy tending a doe.
Will AWESOME man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those are freaking big a$$ed animals. Scott stick with it man....you will connect dude Will thanks for the offer my friend Paint is drying downstairs as I type...hehehe Outta the doghouse and head strong into the workload again.
Ok, I've done the math. Right now we're sitting with 870-6/8s inches. It's a lead, but it's not much and can be overtaken easily. Let's get some does down to add a little comfort margin! And naturally, keep gunning for the big boys!
It's November in Illinois. I may only have 2 days left to hunt before the orange army, but in a matter of seconds, the buck of my dreams could walk out. We have this contest in our favor. Like you said Will a few more does added onto that and another 2 bucks and this thing is ours.
