    Ok guys I need opinions.

I went into this season with the intent of only taking a buck if he met the following criteria.
    1. A mature buck... 4.5 or older.
    OR
    2. Score over 120"
I have seen 5-6 bucks that do fit the profile but only 1 has given me a shot opportunity and I screwed the pooch on that one. I have seen 10-15 bucks that are in the 100-120 range and had shots at 6-7 but have passed.

I'm now staring down my last 3-4 days of hunting and haven't closed the deal. I'm content to not shoot a buck as I'm trying to manage my properties for the long term BUT I don't want to let the team down. So the question is, do I continue to hold out for a big boy OR do I shoot the first decent buck I get a crack at.

Matt my feelings have always been that this contest is for fun. Shoot what makes you happy, and in the end it will work out. Don't downgrade your goals, because you feel like you may be letting the team down by not connecting on a buck.

I know what your talking about though. I have 4 1/2 days still to get it done before our gun seasons open up here. I've never killed a deer with my bow after our first gun season.

Yeah shooting a deer with a bow after rifle season rarely happens in Nebraska. Most of the time the deer go completely nocturnal and only start to come out of that pattern right at the end of bow season.

Sweet, Grats on the doe and Bucks gents. Most excellent showing.

I called the butcher today, he went out of town on family bsuiness. His son is there still accepting deer and told me if his Father does not return as scheduled tomm evening, I should just come down and he will skull cut the rack off.

If I have time this evening I may just run down to the butchers and do it tonight. So at latest wednesday evening I should have it scored and posted.

We are in the runnings now boys !!! Keep the points rolling !!!!

    Be safe and goodluck!!

Great job guys. Now you got my blood boiling. Heading out all day Thursday for my first hunt of the year. I work Friday and then am off for two weeks. Hopefully I can make something happen. Good luck to the rest that haven't got their bucks yet.

I saw 4 does around 1:45 this afternoon, but after that nothing. I think something jumped them though, as they were kind of trotting through the woods at a pretty good pace. No buck in sight that would of led me to believe they were being chased.

I decided I'm going to change it up a bit, and go back to work the next 2 days, and then take 2 off next week.

Temps are supposed to be in the 70's all the way though Friday, and I just don't think I will see the bucks that I want to be killing in this type of weather. I also haven't seen much rutting activity as usual, so I really hope that it picks up next week. Right now it looks like I'll be in the woods Saturday through Monday, and then again on Wednesday.

    Gents,

I'm using a borrowed computer; I need to keep this short and sweet until tomorrow (I'll be home and ready to write). It looks like some congratulations are in order....YES!

I dumped a huge 11 pointer last night, as well as a doe. The buck will go in the book with 150 7/8 inches of bone. I am tickled silly right now...the whole story and pics pending! In three days of hunting I had 40 deer filter past me-10 does and thirty (yes, 30) bucks. I waited for what I thought was the right one.

    Talk to you all tomorrow!
