Saw a small bodied deer off to my right about 15 minutes before shooting light. Saw nothing after that, heading out soon for an evening hunt.

    Be safe and goodluck,

Had a shooter ten point at about 80 yards, he took the right trail and I needed him to take the left...alas it is called hunting.
Watched a spike work a scrape....was getting antsy thinkin he was a doe till I saw him do that LOL. Adding insult to injury, on my way home I watched a mid140's chase 4 does in between houses and across the road in front of me...I snapped a couple of pics, will upload after.
    Stay frosty out there boys!!

This morning, I went to a stand that I hung last weekend. I did my best to stay undetected while walking in, and even took about a 30 minute walk completely out of the way to sneak in. It was an epic fail lol. I believe I jumped just about every deer in the county out of the area. Instead of bedding up on the west hillside, they were on the east.

Still managed to see a spike and 2 does, but nothing close enough for a shot. Checked the camera on the way out and had a picture of a nice 130 class 9 pointer in there last night.

Tonight took a stand in with me to an area that hasn't been touched all year. Found a few good rubs, and a good trail and set up. The neighboring landowner came down around 5:15 to cut firewood right on the property line about 80 yards from me. He finally left at 6:00. I only ended up seeing a 1.5 year old 8 pt. right at dark.

Back at it again tomorrow. Heading to a great funnel, and usually a good stand to see some bucks cruising.

Last night I shot at a slob doe ... I was in the stand that I watched from another stand as that buck walked right by it ....

Pig doe came out and deeper into the field than I had hoped ... 2 others were lagging behind ... she got broadside at 30 yards .. light was starting to fade ... I shot, heard the slap ... she ran about 30 yards tail up ... then dropped her tail..flicked it a few times .. started walking towards the wood line ...flag went up..then went down ..she did not appear wounded .. but I know what I heard...

went to look for the arrow ... by the time I was done watching the 2 in the back and letting them get into the woods, it was really getting hazy .. I looked for the arrow in the tall green grass or any blood ... couldn't find either ... but it was dark

Going after church with Andrew And Andrea to find the arrrow and/or hopefully her ...

Well guys it's been a long day so I'll try to keep this short. I just got home, and I came back with a little doe.

I went to the farm this morning and got settled into what I consider my best rut stand. Right at dawn I rattled, and in no time I heard deer coming. I looked to my North, and saw a buck headed my way. I checked him over and he was about a 115" 10 pointer that I have a few pictures of, but wasn't the buck for me as he stood there at 30 yards. I hear more footsteps to me East, and try to make out the deer through my binocs. I couldn't really tell a lot about him, but he had at least 5 points on his left side, and he was BIG. He stayed in the thicket about 60 yards out though. A little later, a fork came strolling through, and shortly after that a spike came by.

Around 10:00, the neighbor who was cutting firewood last night, thought it was a good time to have a fire in his bottom field lol. So I figured it was time to sneak out.

Tonight I decided to carry my Lone Wolf stand and sticks in with me into a spot that hasn't been hunted this year. It's not far from where I killed my buck last year. I got settled in and had no more than sat in the stand, and a small 8 pointer came through. I was in the middle of texting a friend about his weekend hunting in Calhoun County (an unbelievable place for big bucks), when I looked up and saw a small doe headed my way.

I slowly stood up and and grabbed my bow. I had forgotten to nock an arrow!!! I guess I was wrapped up in my friends stories of 130" bucks running around like crazy for him this past weekend to get an arrow ready lol. Anyways I get one nocked, and I have the young doe at 30 yards, but she is hung up smelling on one of the branches I cut for a lane. She is directly downwind of me for nearly 5 minutes, before she finally moves. She ends up stopping at 19 yards, and I find a small window to shoot. I see my shot hit perfect, as she was ever so slightly quartering towards me. I watch her run off, and hear her crash.

This is when the night becomes a long one. I wait until dark to see if a buck would show up. I didn't see another deer. I decided to go back to the truck to get a better flashlight as my little one was running low on batteries. I find my arrow, and instantly get on blood. If you can imagine the nastiest, thickest brush possible, go ahead and multiply it by 2, and that's about what I was tracking her through. I end up finding her about 60 yards away, The shot was a perfect double lung hit. However, I had no more than got to her and I trip and bust my flashlight. So I try to navigate back to my truck, so I can get the 4 wheeler with no flashlight, in the worst thicket in the world. On my way out, I somehow managed to lose my binoculars. Not too happy about that at the moment.

I get there, and I call a friend. He has a deer down too, and needs help. I go ahead and wait for him to meet up with me, and we go get my doe. Finding her again was a difficult task, we ended up just having to go back to the shot and blood trail her again. Got her back to my truck, and headed out for his on a nearby public land spot. He's allergic to deer hair, so I went ahead and gutted and got it loaded onto his game cart.

Oh and the giant non-typical I have been talking about seeing crossing the road by some public land here, was shot last night by a young man from Georgia. Supposed to gross up around the 180's.

Anyways, here is a picture of my doe. I think she is the smallest deer I have ever taken, but she extends me to 10 straight years of tagging a deer with my bow. Sorry about the crappy pics. I was tired, and didn't really feel like messing with taking photos back in the woods at the time.

PT---My phone was dead by the time I got back to her, so I couldn't send you the first pics of this girl lol.

I'm going to get about 4 hours of sleep, and get up and hunt the public land tomorrow morning. I'll probably get down early and get this doe butchered, and then hunt again the afternoon if I have time. This kill was definantly something I needed. It felt pretty good to put the smack down on one.

Thanks guys. I don't think I have ever that much trouble trying to get one deer out. Not to mention something that was this small.

I didn't make it hunting this morning. I woke up and checked the temps, and figured I better get started on her before shooting something else.

    Congrats Scott!

I had a weekend of close calls. Saw a total of 9 bucks, 4 shooters but I just can't get them to coopperate. I can't get out today but will probably get out several times the rest of the week. Rifle starts here Saturday, so that essentially represents the end of my season. The pressure is on!
