I'm still here. I'm hunting tomorrow and Thursday. I have a fifty yard funnel with a river on one side and a ditch full of water on the other side that I will be hunting tomorrow morning in IL. It just so happens they use this funnel to go to their bedding area, and my camera confirmed I have a pretty nice 7 pt that looks to be at least 4.5 using this funnel the past week, so we will see what happens tomorrow. Hopefully a buck in the morning in IL and a buck in the evening in MO. Talk about being on cloud 9 if that happens.
PT, when you say "hear from" do you mean "hear from" or hear from as in kill something? I'm try'n man I'm try'n! :D Come on boys let's hear what you got go'n on!
I'm still here, my bow season here in vt went miserably. Work was so busy that I only ended up only sitting two evenings. Saw deer both sits had a doe behind me at 10 yards for 15 min with no shot until she busted me, wind shifted 20 min before dark otherwise it woulda been a gimmie shot! Our bow season ended Sunday. But I'm headed to Wisconsin Saturday for a week so there is still hope yet. I may even hunt a little of our rifle season with a bow depending on the deer movement. There is nothing natural about our deer movement in November once the pumpkins hit the woods, hard to hunt them with a bow. We'll see! Goo luck guys, keep at it!
I mean hear as in participate with your team on the team thread as your season goes ... like you do ... I PMed ohiobowhunter trying to find out what is going on with him ....
Well the weather really slowed work down had today off so i packed some stuff and took care of some things before i leave for ohio friday. But i also have wed. off and there is no way i could live with myself if i didn't get out to hunt having 2 unexpected days off during prime time. So i'm goin in the mornin as long as it aint pourin. Probally my last chance at a ny archery hunt for the season. Unless they want to give me the rest of the week off which is fine by me.
We may have a 150" added to our score......stay tuned.... Almost had a monster doe tonight .... about ten yards too far..,.
That's great news! (about the buck, sorry about your doe Tony ) I had a great encounter with a doe this morning but couldn't even get my bow off the hook. I sat in my climber after taking a leak and she came trotting in out of a thicket 30 yards away and hit the skids 18 yards out. It was so quiet I couldn't move. She smelled my trail coming in and then walked over and took a whiff of my "scrape". She walked under my stand and I had dropped a jacket while climbing up the tree and didn't realize it until I was set up. She didn't even mind the jacket! Dang! When I got my bow off the hook she disappeared into the brush. I saw one tail end of a deer on the ridge above me but that was it. It's just too hot for any movement after about 9 am. Sat until 1 pm and got back to the truck at 2. It was 84 degrees. My buddy had a spike, three does and a 100 inch 8pt go past him. By 9 am all was still.
O yeah! I got him! Killed an absolute stud tonight. He has 13 scoreable points. Probably gonna go mid140s. G2s are approximately 12 and 14 inches and bases around 5 1/2. Full story and pics tomorrow. Time to get some sleep. Woooooooo!
You shoulda ninja jumped down with your knife and cut her throat :D What a buck he is!!! Just gnarly old boy ... I think you may hit the 150 gross.... Congrats again my friend and thank you for sharing it with me ...
Congrats on the stud buck! I sat three days this past weekend. It was very quiet. Too warm and the wind wasn't helping me either. 5 days until KS!
