I hunted this morning. Walked up on the same skunk that almost got me last week :D . He has a pure white tail that is 8 inches wide and stands18 inches tall. I was walking in the dark with my red light on and got to five yards before I saw him. His tail was straight in the air but fortunately he was facing me. Scared the crap out of me when I saw him. I hate walking around in the dark!

I saw two does that came to 32 yards but never gave me a shot. I hunted until 11:00 am. Hopefully I'll get back out this weekend. I have a 10 day trip to Kansas on Nov 8 but I want to kill a deer in Oklahoma before that.

I hunted on the ground tonight and had a doe and fawn at 8 yards. Didn't want to shoot either one as I was a mile and a half back on a WMA and didn't feel like going to the trouble of getting it out of there. Now, a good buck would have been a different story! :D I saw ten hogs come out behind the deer about 60 yards. The deer alerted me to their presence way in advance. I was hoping they were looking at a buck that was coming but not so. Back out there in the morning.

I was so close last night to putting a big one on the ground. I needed him to come another 30 yards. He was a high 130s 8 pt. Other than him I saw about 30 other deer, including 10 other bucks. I'll be going back this evening to try and kill him. It was a very productive evening.

Well the only thing that hit the dirt this weekend was my butt when my stool blew apart in my blind. Could of shot a small seven point sat. mornin. Had a doe sat night and sun. morn at about 35-40 yards don't really want to take that shot.

Good work, sounds like you are getting closer!

I hunted this morning and saw nothing but a coyote that didn't give me a shot. Heard some hogs fighting but nothing else. I'm not sure I've got this area figured out. Seems like all the deer sign has disappeared where we usually see it and it's starting to show up where we usually see very little. Hmmm......... still working on it. :D

I don't blame you for not wanting to take that shot. Seems like a lot of folks are hitting deer and losing them. I like shots less than 30 myself.

Well I guess you all have probably figured it out by now, but I didn't get the 8 pt that I saw on Sat. evening. I hung a new stand and saw several deer at the same spot but he didn't come back out yesterday evening. I'm back at work now thru Thursday, but have 6 days in a row off after that. With a cold front coming in on Friday I'm hoping that I will be able to see some good bucks on their feet and maybe call one in since this weekend should be definite pre-rut. Good luck to anybody hunting this week.

O yeah, forgot to mention. The deer that I heard about was in fact Moose. He has 17 scoreable points and scored 174". It turns out it wasn't the owners son that shot him, but some guy that married into his family somehow. I guess at least I know what happened now, but it sure is a bummer.

We NEED a cold front. It was 92 degrees when I got back to my truck yesterday evening. I had my climber and a pack plus my bow. A true beating! I hate hot weather..........anytime of the year! OK, rant is over. I'll be back out Friday. :D

I won't get to go again until Sat. I was supposed get 6 days off in a row from work, but my manager really screwed me on the schedule and cut my days off in half. So instead of hunting Sat.-Wed., I get Sat. and Sun. now. Talk about knocking the breath out of me.

I'm headed to the cabin tomorrow until Monday morning. I should get for hunts in and will hopefully get a shot at a doe. Less than two weeks away from 10 days in south east KS. I'm getting very pumped!
