Atta boy, good shootin. Didn't see much out here in SD this weekend. 2 does about 80 yards out yesterday evening. Makes me wonder how much of an impact this EHD is having.
Check with the local game warden. They usually have some up to date info as they field a lot of calls about dead deer. At least it will give you a little idea about how bad it is in your area.
I don't have any cams out there ... ... one of these days I will ... Question for you guys ... what is the best value cam out there?
Tony.......................points for a doe, does not compare to a lifelong friendship..................remember that buddy. Dave
Don't buy Wildgame Innovations cameras. Slow trigger and slow shutter speeds. Mine takes really good pics as long as nothing is moving. If there is any movement at all, it gets blurry. If you have some deer that like to pose for pics you'll be fine Last cam I bought was a spypoint and I absolutely love it. Takes great pics, even the nite one are really good. I think I gave $129 for it at local shop. Could probably find em cheaper on ebay or something though
I have used only moultrie cameras for the past 4-5 years. I will post some pics as soon as I get a chance. I think that for the price they have been very good and will continue to buy moultries in the future. I can't afford to spend $200+ on cameras, so these cameras have been perfect for me.
Ummm, come one boys. I expect great things from you folks, I mean after all you do have a tradition to keep up)))) GO TEAM 6 Dave
Most of our guys can't even deer hunt yet, Dave ..... keep the faith! Che k out my sig .... that is how we can keep up with the rest of the teams ... right now last years team 6 has only 50 points as well
Tony, I arrowed a 170+ class 5x5 mule deer this past Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Hit him twice in the boiler room! I found him bedded in the aspens, slightly quartering away, and I first arrowed him from 26 yards. The arrow was spot on, I thought. I followed him for 150 yards after waiting 40 minutes to pursue-was finding good blood. I then heard him bound off in fading light. I backed out for the evening...I felt it would be better to continue the chase in the morning. In the morning, I followed more good sign. Eventually, the blood trail started to thin out. At a point about 500 yards from my original shot, I found him bedded. I caught his movement when he stood up...he hadn't a clue I was there. From 47 yards I blew a second arrow through his chest, a complete arrow soaking pass through. He bound off again. Blood spewing everywhere-as high as 4 feet up on trees on both sides of the trail! I though for sure he'd be in the bag! Tony, I'm telling you... I arrowed the Lord's "Super" deer twice-both shots in the boiler room! That magnificent animal continued to run for over a half a mile (according to my GPS). He crossed a road, waded a river, leaped a fence and disappeared onto private property! My heart sank! "No hunting, fishing, trapping or trespassing under any condition" signs were posted every 25 yards. The signs continued to read, "violators will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law." I didn't darn continue my pursuit! I tried to contact whomever...to no avail (the property is owned by a Canadian mining company). I got up high to glass hoping I would see the buck dead or bedded in an effort to further my case if by chance I located him. Nothing....It made me sick losing such a giant! It's sad, but I'm telling you, they don't always die when and where you want. Next time, I'll pick one that isn't filled with Fix-a-flat! Yes, I joke. It bothers me losing such an incredible animal! In my heart though, I did everything as professionally as I could possibly do...A cape buff takes one arrow and is dead in 25 yards. A mule deer takes two arrows and gets away. The Lord works in strange ways. Put me down for a negative 170! Come on Team Six!
Dang Will! That is such a heartbreaker! Let me know when you arrow a doe your buck so I can keep the old team score updated! Keep in touch, my friend!
Liking the signature Tony! Will sorry to hear about the muley, definitely a heartbreaker. Like Tony said keep in touch.
The moultries I bought I was paying around $120 a couple years ago I believe. Some of them were cheaper but they were used too. I won't ever do that again. I would highly recommend buying trail cameras brand new, I had some serious problems with mine and ended up learning my lesson the hard way. I haven't bought any more cameras in the last couple years, but my little brother has. He has the little moultrie gamespy and loves it. Don't know exactly what he paid for it though, but it was under $140.
I'm really looking forward to you guys getting to hunt that don't have an open season yet. I want to see some pics of deer on the ground!
I should get a chance to sit tomorrow night. My schedule is nuts now. I'm so thankful ill have 10 days in KS this November.
