I hear ya Goose, you know it you read it, we had next to zilch on cameras at all three properties really...especially not at the one I got Kicks off of. Kicks was on cam back in July and August and then seemed to dissolve into a memory....only once did a buck worthy of a possible arrow make an appearance after September 1st really and it was in a 2/3 day stretch...otherwise deader than a door nail.

Keep the faith and know it seriously just takes one minute on one sit and the entire season can change for ya!

Perhaps re-evaluation of sets or locations you're choosing to hunt need made, but it is quite possible you're doing nothing wrong and your instincts are right; just being tested. Keep the faith brother....the bad thing about shooting the buck when I did is I'll be setting throughout the rut not able to shoot a buck...you will be able to and brother only God knows what may come your way during that!

I am mostly frustrated with the lack of deer sightings period. I would be ecstatic to have a chance at a buck, but putting some meat in the freezer is my first concern every season and, so far, I'm not even seeing does in this spot.

Don't let it get ya down Goose, its been pretty slow here for me too. Checked cams and didn't have squat, every good buck I had on cams early has totally disappeared. Last night was first time I've seen anything in about two weeks. I was like you couple weeks ago where I couldn't even sit in stand because I kept thinking about goin back home, about three sits ended in less then a hour cause I just wasn't into it. I'd say just take a break and try to figure it out and it'll turn around.

Well I'm back from 2 does of hunting. Saw 5 deer. 2 little bucks 2 does and a decent 7. Nothing I wanted to shoot just yet. The little bucks are moving and the decent 7 was following a doe but didn't seem to be hounding her too hard.

Anyway BP starts Saturday so I'll be bowhunting Friday & Saturday but next week i'll be BP hunting with my brother and father. Our late bow comes in Dec. 1 in two of the areas I hunt but I might not get out much as our baby boy is due roughly Dec. 26.

I normally would have got to bowhunt a lot more by now but this season I didn't and when I did I wasn't too set on killing just anything. I've got a great wind for my Saturday a.m. hunt and it's really crowding a nice bedding cutover and creek bottom so there's still a chance. Wind sucks on Friday so I'm just hunting on an intersction of 2 powerlines, might not get a shot but can see a lot of ground which may give some new "intel".

    Good luck fellas.

Sitting in the blind this afternoon. Nothing yet but usually don't get movement until late afternoon. Moved some cameras today also in hopes of getting some better pick. Put on on the scrapes I found in edge of corn field. With the rain we got lsst couple days it was pretty wet and could see tracks and looked liked a good sized something was hitting it. Hopefully have some pics of whatever it is and I plan to sit in that stand Sat or Sun morning so maybe I'll get some eyes on what's hitting them. I know whatever it is isn't hitting them in afternoon so hopefully the morning will pay off.

Well fellas I didn't see anything sitting in ground blind so I left right at sun set and headed back. To get back got to go through the bottoms corn field where my ladder stand is. There was a few doe so I just stayed and watched then saw another deer coming quick across field but it was about to dark to see so grabbed binos and it was a spike or four point. He trotted to about 50 yards from me and as I was watching him I scanned over the rest of the corn field. All of s sudden I caught antlers. By this time is was to dark to make out his rack but he definitely had some head gear and was a pretty decent sized body. He followed a doe for a couple steps then turned and jumped the fence and went out of sight.

Don't know what he was or how big but it was definitely good to see something bigger than a spikr or fork horn. I'll be hitting some spots this weekend in hopes of at least getting a good look at whatever he was or at very least hope trail cam moved down there catches him.

Guess I should clarify what's goin on in last post. I went out this afternoon getting to stand kind of later than I really wanted but I was helping tear out a fence for my buddy who owns farm I hunt. So anyway got set up about 330 and was hoping to see some good movement since it seems to be picking up around here. So around 4-420 I decided I'd rattle a little and hit the grunt tube, normally have no luck doin this, after about ten minutes I noticed what I actually thought was a coyote across the crick from my stand. Turned out to be a small doe, then a spike buck came out and actually made his way across the crick to no more than 5 yards behind the tree I was in. He looked around and made his way to corn field and out of sight. Needless to say this made me excited about the rest of night. It was pretty quiet for a while and thr doe that came in was doen in crick munching on some acorns. I noticed she kept looking off across the field and suddenly trotted off. Didnt think much about it so I truned around and heard something coming down edge of field.

Well thats when it all turned to crap. It ended up being some guy who has permission apparently to hunt the neighbors and he proceeded to ask me what I was doin. I asked same and pretty much a long story short he decided to argue that I was notwhere I was supposed to be and I not so politely explained he was wrong and had no idea where he was. Finally he walked off and proceeded to tromp around the timber for 15 minutes before it went quiet. For the next 45 minutes all I could here was deer blowing and running or through the woods behind me wjere this guy walked off into. Now in all honesty I can'tsay much since I ddon't own the land I hunt but last year I had a agreement with the neighbor, who also happens to ne one of my other buddies dad, that if I came to hunt and saw a vehicle in the couple spots the guys that hunt on him I would go to a different spot and vise versa. I have about 400 acre to hunt and they have about 60, I also made it a point not to place stands anywhere close to property line but this particular stand I was in is about 70 yards from the line and its nothing but a good sized crick and some pretty thick brush in between. Idk who this guy was and it was a different guy than from last year.

I guess really there's not much I can do about it, it was just kinda frustrating to have been out well before the time of day thimgs start happening and have somebody screw it up 45 minutes before the day is over. ButI I guess the guys that hunt public ground deal with this all the time. I think what really erked me was the guy wanted to argue with me about who's ground was who's.

Sorry for the long read ha, on a plus side for the day though I found a decent shed this morning while we were moving cows on the farm I hunt. Pretty sure its from last year and the squirrels have been eating on it but its still pretty decent. Found a fresh rub last night also, nothing big but I think things maybe heating up. Seen a lot of daylight movement past two days and some chasing does.

Well guys iv been running around with the black powder this week, passing on spikes because that's all I seem to see. Decided to go somewhere that I haven't been this year and it paid off

He was no giant but I'm still very pleased with him. Shot with a .54 cal Lyman trade rifle. Very impressed with the .54. Shot was about 35 yards and destroyed the lungs. I had this at the impact

And a pretty easy track job.

I waited two hours before taking up the track. Had decent blood and then it stopped. He blew and jumped up where I thought he went down. We backed out and are going to look again this afternoon. I'm thinking it was a liver hit. The arrow was covered in red blood.

Good luck Goose, I'm not sure but if it was liver isn't the blood kinda dark red? Like rusty looking, if its bright red maybe you caught some lung. Either way good luck tracking him down.

I didn't see anything this morning but I was close to one of my cams so I checked it. From just looking at the little screen on cam I saw a couple picks of bucks. The one I think was the 9 pointer that had previously disappeared sincr about middle of Sept. Wont know for sure until grab cards next weekend but always hoping.
