    That's a good buck.

Your smile looks like a kid who caught his first fish. I'm glad your patience paid off.

Just went and pulled card, and found couple nice scrapes. Was a real nice one next to ladder stand. Its on edge of corn field though and there's couple more along edge of field. Seen people say those aren't always best but nice to see. Pics are pretty low and depending whats on one of the cams may move it onto scrape just to see what's hitting it.

Gonna mess around for couple hours then head out for afternoon sit.

Brother my thoughts and prayers are with you...use the time you get to hunt as an escape and rejuvenation. Cannot imagine what you're going through but prayers are with you.

Dang. That's a double gut punch in a short period of time. It is a long season and you have more important things to worry about right now. I'm sure that some time in the woods would provide a bit of therapy for you.

Frustration is starting to set in for me. The two spots that I hunt regularly just aren't producing any good sightings. It seems all the activity, based on my trail cam, at my grandma's is at night. The few deer I've seen at my spot in Owen County are well out of bow range or I bump them in the hay field on my way out. Last night I watched what I believe was a couple of bucks working scrapes, but that was 200+ yards away across the back hay field. I did locate a couple of scrapes along the edge of the front field, one of which looked to be very active. I'm going to take my climber out there next week and try a couple of different spots to see if that changes my luck.

I had very high hopes for last night as I sat in my other stand for the first time and noticed a scrape around twenty feet from the ladder, but other than the deer across the field I saw nothing. I did have a nice buck (pretty sure it is the same one I got a picture of in velvet toward the end of August) on my trail cam around 5:00 pm on 10/18 about twenty-five yards from my main stand, so that still gives me a glimmer of hope. Now I just need to figure out a way to get an idea of his regular movements. At this point I'd just be happy to fill my doe tags and get some meat in the freezer.

Also, another thing that is hurting me is that the leaves are still hanging tight on the trees. It is very difficult to see if deer are moving through the woods when I can't see, consistently, beyond twenty-five to thirty yards.

The hunting spot I lost this year seems to have spoiled me. I would see deer on just about every sit and usually had something pass through in bow range. It was around eleven acres, three or so was wooded, so it was a little easier property to hunt than the ninety acres I have access to now.
