My plan is to head out in the morning, sit until noonish, go home for lunch and a nap and then head back out for the evening.

Well...this absolutely blows! So just got an email from my father and the farmer decided to let his nephew hunt again this bow season...after telling us all along it was just us until gun....nephew just asked this week about it...who waits that long. So now all our prep work is for naught and our one stand location on the small woods we had to give to the nephew to hunt last year is probably worthless. NO happy.

That's a pisser. Nothing like waiting until the last couple of days to decide to ruin another person's hard work.

Yes it is, honestly I am more upset with the last second nature of the nephew pulling this crap off. He knows, friends on facebook and old classmate, the amount of time, energy and EARLY preparation we do to ensure the property isn't pressured a ton right at the last minute. We now have to grant him hunting permission to a small chunk of woods we had scouted and planned on hunting this year (hung one stand and ready for more) due to him not going to hunt...and bam last minute. The farmer owns the ground and can let anyone hunt because of that, but the last minute stuff absolutely rubs me 100% the wrong way.

We hope to have a discussion with the landowner after this season about the next one moving forward and if we have to start paying a small amount so be it...we clear all his trails, will be cutting an equipment access trail along his fields this winter, planting pine trees this coming year and keep track of his property through our trail cameras (which we share with him fully)....just hurts that now all that is essentially worth nothing because this nephew did/does nothing except ask less than 7 days till the season opener....okay done venting...God please remove my callous feelings.

That's a pretty crappy deal Ty. I'm lucky in that aspect as I'm the only one thst bow hunts on ground I hunt. For the most part only one that gun hunts.

As for me I went out, reluctantly mind you, and changed cards around noon today. Really wanted to stay out but wanted most recent info for Tuesday. Got some good pics of bucks in daylight by one stand. Nothing too great but did get the 9 pointer I've been after during day. I took off work so I'll be in tree first thing and sit as long as can then head in for lunch and go back out. Everyone around property is shelling corn so they should be moving.

Man Ty that's a huge bummer! I'm sure the initial frustration will be replaced with reward some other way. All of your hard work will pay off!

Went out today and did some scouting before rain. Saw a few but not a lot. Everybody around property is cutting corn but just found out won't be taking any out on property I hunt. Combine broke down so makes it kinda hard. Also went and pickedup few last minute items. Trying out the scent free soap this year, never really worried to much before but figured can't hurt.

Also picked up some UA base layer and I must say that stuff is depressing to buy. First off it runs small so had to buy bigger than size than usual and seeing as its fitted it sure makes you realize how out of shape you are ha ha. Long way from the 210 lbs was when got out of Corps six years ago ha.

Good luck fellas and for most of us its only two days and a wake up.

Getting ready to go check the cameras again today put some feed out and finish my home made box blind here is a pic of it. I always run across quality scrap material at work because I work in recycling an waste disposal. The things that come in the trash are sometimes right up a bowhunters alley. This is my first time building one an I think it turned out decent. All i need to do is paint the inside an put the roof on it and more camo mesh for shooting holes. I will post the finished product when its complete. I'm kinda leary about putting it out with seaon starting tuesday an all. There is already enough pressure where I hunt so I may put it in a different spot. I'm getting pretty pumped about the opener fellas. I also wanted to show my teamates a pic of my rig setup so here she is. This will be its debut in the woods so I'm excited to put it to work. I put a lil coin in it an it is my primary bow of choice. All I can say is that it is deadly accurate with the right shooter behind it being myself. I'm scared to shoot groups at 20 an 30 trust me busting arrows can get expensive. The React sight is a complement to any Bowhunter so if u don't have it I would get it. Its really fun to shoot though. I'm getting about 281 fps out of it an I could get more but I wanted to try these new bolts by goldtip called warriors. I really like that name it sounds native and gives me the mindset of a warrior indian going in to harvest an animal. Wit that being said bowhunting is one of my passions an I take it very serious fellas. It is definitely a lifestyle choice that I will not change. Hope u guys fill the same I will post some camera pics today if I gotem so keep ur fingers crossed Men. OkieBowHunter RedSunRising.
