Yea so checked cards and didnt really have anything to impressive. Got some decent action just wasn't what I was hoping for. It has been on the warm side though past two weeks so we'll see. Did haveta pull my new mpe5 though, it took pics and seems to still be turning on but the display isn't showing up. Only had a 2gb card and it had 1200 pics so csrd might have been full but put new card in and still wasn't able to get the display to show even when trying to get into the settings.

Sorry for the quiet weekend from me, was at a 3 day softball tourney and dog tired at nights. We have one stand to hang at the swamp property here ASAP, since we found out we can hunt the entire thing and will be entering the small 5 acre woods that is surround 95% around by hay, soybeans, corn for the first time. Put up a couple cams a week or so ago around it and hope to have a "little" info on where to do the last minute set up. Been extremely busy with the job switch and all, still got tons of pre-season prepping like get clothes out, checked and hung for a day before back in the totes, rinsing wash machine with bleach, 3 loads of scentless detergent and tons of baking soda (in a perfect world I'll eventually have a wash machine for ONLY hunting stuff...someday) in preperation of the hunting season when wife hates I don't allow scented detergent. :D

We got the brassicas plots in last weekend, but rain has been non-existent sadly...praying. :D

Not too mention my shooting practice now is tough due to I hyperextended my left thumb and holding the bow is a pain in the butt now!

I love and hate this time of the year...so excited for the season to get here...but so much more to do!

Just wanted to check in since I'm not on a ton on the weekend. I've been getting some good action on my trail cams just mainly does and fawns though. I actually pulled my last cam out this weekend and I will probably put them back out when the acorns, rubs, & scrapes start showing up. I just like to let everything calm down before season starts. I have been shooting more this year than I have in the past 20 years and it feels good. I'm dialed in out to 60, I don't shoot that far in the woods I just love shooting at some longer ranges for practice. I got two evening sits in with the spotting scope on the only bean fields I can hunt this season(everything else is corn) and have seen quite a few deer but not too many bucks. The one buck I saw Saturday evening was by himself and had no velvet left so I'm not sure if he's just a loner or the bachelor groups are starting to break up.

Urban archery opens this Saturday and I may get a sit in one evening soon depending on the temperatures. My son and I are also gettin ready for VA's youth day which is Sept 28th so hopefully that will go well.

I will try to text and post from the stand if I have any action or get us some points. I have a couple of you guys numbers and mine is 757-714-3572 for anyone texting and what not.

Got the two stands up at my grandma's yesterday.

I checked my trail cam there, but something screwy must have happened with the camera. I had no pictures after 8-22, yet all the corn I dumped out was gone.

    That is one funky rack.

I'd say any of the three bucks there would be a shooter to me.

    Dear Pat,

I believe he is ready for harvest as well. He's gradually matured to the point his maturity+funky awesomeness+nastiness= a harvest worthy buck.

    Sincerely,

    Tynimiller :D

Well yes, but I think the trade off might be fair. And I am only offering this up as a courtesy to our team. We can use any and all points possible. In the end it really is nothing more than an act of kindness! Lol..

Pat - great looking bucks. I still have nothing of any value showing up on the camera although I moved it this morning to a corner where I get a lot of activity during the rut. Going to leave it for a few weeks and see what happens. I did have another guy who hunts close by tell me he's getting a lot of 100" bucks and one that would go 125-130" so that is promising.

Also found out that this property may be off limits next year. Just about brought me to tears when I heard that. I figure I have a good amount of time to do the right thing and make the landowner want me there.

No worries Pops, the bucks will come. As for the property, yeah get good with the owner and hopefully that'll sort itself out for you!

Ty - that's the crazy thing. I've been in good with them for 10 years. I've always helped take care of the property and keep the trespassers out. When he told me, I thanked him for the privilege to hunt it the last 10 years and figure I'll do everything I can this year to earn another year.

Hope you get to stay there. Over the past 3 years the club I hunt with has lost some of my favorite pieces of land. Many of these spots I've hunted about like your piece, close to 10 years. You develop a relationship with a spot and you know it like the back of your hand add to that the memories of past hunts and work put in, it feels like losing a friend or something. Hope your spot works out.

Getting some more practice in this evening, couple shots of the range, measured from the corner of the deck they are 20 thru 50(deer). I can get to 62 from the opposite corner but the woods behind the deer have been keeping me from trying that too often ;]

I noticed the other day when I was at my grandma's the other day that there were green acorns dropping all over the place.

If they are green when they drop do they continue to ripen? I'm guessing not, but I wasn't sure. If they stay green, will anything eat them?

Ultimately, I considered this a positive sign as I'm guessing there are plenty more nuts hanging on the branches and they will continue to drop into October.
