Pretty good around here. Wish it would cool back off though. I'm ready for that first good frost of the year...

The first 2 weeks of August around her were running high 50's for lows to low 80's for highs. It was awesome. Now it's back to upper 90's and humid...ehhh

Well some good and bad news about my swamp property:

Good: Found out today that unless something very unforeseen happens we have the entire place to ourselves 100% for sure this bow season. Owner came up to us as we were seeding the last plot at the property and told us the news. This is great, but it also meant we had to quick scout a small chunk of prime woods (about 5 acres surrounded on nearly every side by either corn, hay, soybeans and attempt to pick out a tree for a stand we are forced to put up late in about a week. Two cameras went out and will pull them the night we hang the stand next week sometime...hopefully in that week we can view the pictures and do our best guess as to where a stand is needed or best suited for.

Bad: RD, Houdini and AWD still elude the cameras this year. It is all part of learning the Swamp Property though, as it is just our second year there. The crop rotations have changed up their movements so much this year it's like hitting the re-start button on figuring out their movements. Our stands save the one I shared above are up in what sound tactical approaches say are the highest percentage spots but who knows...I may be utilizing the climber more this year than I like. I have no doubt the big boys are there and will become more active, just frustrating to not see it on the cameras...hence why we went from 2 cameras out there to 5 total last night as we hung 3 more....time will tell!

I'm planning on putting up a couple of stands at my Owen County property this weekend. I put out a couple of trail cams last weekend and I figure I'll pull the cards while I'm there.

Hopefully I get a picture or two of the buck I saw running across the field as I was leaving.

Ty that's great that you have sole access! I'm sure you will get those big guys figured out.

Pops your a lucky man to even see a beast like that! I saw 1 this year with a 4" drop and that was awesome, but that thing....WOW

Here are a few pictures of my main target this year and a few others. My main hunting land is 120 acres of family property that I have been attempting to manage to the best of my ability and budget. The property is about 90 miles from where I live and is surrounded on three sides by paper land. Having a cabin that distance makes it challenging to get food plots planted at the right time and stay current on the camera checks. My property has always been frustrating for me as I usually don't start seeing bucks until the last two weeks of October but this year I put minerals out early and started seeing my target buck early. I haven't gotten a buck picture since July 2 however. In any event, here are some pics of the types of deer I have running around my woods.

Possibly Split Ear from 2010 (Has a split left ear, but might be a coincidence?)

Well guys I finally did the unthinkable. Went to check one of my game cams this morning and I never turned it on... Around 10-12 days out. And to make matters worse, it was a birthday check lol
