I got about 20 pics of him from that distance at varying angles; he's actually a nine-pointer when you see him from the side.... Matt and I rough-scored him from the photos using his face for scale at 154".
If it happens the first week, that wouldn't be a bad guess, Vito. Believe it or not, we came up with the exact same score for this guy as well, walking down the same trail. Different camera but same location. His shorter tine length puts him right there with the other one at 154"...
Tomorrow is the preseason meeting for our QDM co-op. This will be the first hunting season since we formed the co-op in January. We had 43 hunters/property owners at the first meeting and I have already received several calls from people who missed the first meeting. We had an approximated 2,500 acres of private land from those that attended the first meeting so I expect that to grow. Not sure what this will do for the deer hunting in our area, but if anything it has created a camaraderie among the area hunters. IMO, that is best part.
Anyone else checked their cards lately? I actually pulled four of my five cameras out of the woods the last time I went in... I left the one where I've got the big guys at, but won't check it again until I go in to hunt the first time. I'm hoping I can get a pick of my arrow coming out of his lower right half as I'm in the tree above him...
Opening 4 more days before the season opener boys!!! But, it's going to be a week before I can get out there I got some good leads on some "good bucks" from a few sources. Can't wait to get back home and do some scouting.
Did some glassing this weekend, looks very good, I saw about three shooters and each one came out before dark, hopefully they will keep that up and not turn nocturnal on me. Then i placed a camera where i saw them at, and hopefully ill be able to post some pics of them for you guys. I am not going to pull the cards until my first night of season is over sept 19th
