Thanks, Rick... Look forward to hearing about you taking another nice one! In the words of Michel Buffer announcing two UFC warriors entering the Octagon: "It's TIIIIIME!!" :D
Congrats Bowtech.. nice lady! I'll give everyone the not so good news from my weekend. Of course the good news being Justin taking a buck on film this weekend with me behind camera. The bad news.. I missed. A nice 135-140ish TALL tined 8 point I called in from about 200 yards away on some doe bleats. He came strong to us (JZ filming).. out in a CRP.. and I just misjudged the yardage. Bummer.. first miss on a buck since 04'. Oh well.. it slapped me in the face a little.. I'm up now. Then last night I almost closed the deal on another 140"... here at home. I was close. 2 shooters in 2 days.. it's been exciting to say the least. Good luck gents.. watch those scrapes.. they on them HARD.
Sounds like a REALLY awesome couple days, Mike!! You're firing me up even more to get up to John's property... and then a full week behind it back here on my own. :D
Thanks gents. Upon further review of the footage it was determined the 8 I missed was more like 125". Which makes me actually happy I missed.. as strange as that sounds. I kinda didn't think he was a shooter as he came in.. but Justin had a better vantage and assured me he was from behind the camera. It was one of those low visibility eves.. so it was a tricky buck to determine. I'm actually glad now for the miss. I set out with a mission this year.. and I'm glad I didn't break it. Good luck gents.. should be some bone hitting the ground very soon.
Leaving in a few for the start of 2 wks of hunting. Today will only be a morning sit at my partners house then the rest of the day will be spent looking over two property's we acquired but haven't scouted real hard yet. We will hang on one of these for Monday morning and go from there. Finally get in the woods after 2 weeks.
from my stand just called in a fawn doe and smoked her with no regrets i have had it tough here this year. 50 more points
Shot a buck last night at John's (jmbuckhunter's) place... I was back at the trailer waiting for him and when he walked up, I asked "Ever shot and wished you had that arrow back?" I TREMENDOUSLY enjoyed the fellowship with John, and words can't express how gracious John is in opening up his incredible property and having a few friends in... I simply jumped the gun in shooting this guy though. I had seen a very nice mature shooter come out earlier, and I tried to rattle him back, and mixed in a series of grunts and estrous doe can calls... Four bucks showed up looking for the action, and this guy's body was MUCH bigger than the rest, including some very nice 2 1/2-year-olds... I got caught up too much in body size instead of rack size (we weighed him on digital scales later at 222). Oh well. What's done is done. I'll figure up the points later for our team: John went back out this morning and brought back breakfast to go with him ... Thanks again, John... call me when you get his Daddy!
Congrats Greg thats a great buck, I will guess him at 111" very nice buck and at 222 pounds what a hog!.
He's back havent seen him on any trail cams for 2 months. Here are another 2 bucks on the same scrape all 20 yards in front of my ground blind. Hopefully one of the 2 larger show that's probably as good as it gets where I am at this year. Rifle opens Saturday and I am hoping they lay low for another week. First the one in Aug,
Why does that first buck look like he's halfway between his summer and winter coats? Weird... Still love that kicker! :D
My PC is down with a bad bug and is in the shop. Seen some real good deer this week, hope to have one down soon.Congrats on the Doe Tribal and nice buck Greg. Will post again soon as I can get my rig back!
I haven't yet, Tribal... I'm trying to hunt every spare minute I've got as I'm on vacation this week. I'll get a tape on him early next week.
