Got my doe target acquired! Might do a shoulder mount on her. Never thought I’d consider that but she is cool. My dream doe I have running around is illegal to shoot unfortunately. Betty White will just die of old age I guess. Hopefully she sticks around for a few years so I can see her!

The Aero Hunter: Merlin. It's a quality system I'm on my third season with. The thing I forgot about was how much noise the plastic clips on the bags make while walking. I've got to get rid of those things.
I use three Lone Wolf steps with aiders on the first two and a Trophyline platform.

Forgot to update. She was about spoiled on her first ever deer hunt. We had a 160” or so pop out at the pond for a drink. He was about 500 yards away and in a perfect spot to ambush. Well there were does in between us that I didn’t see and busted them and he followed. He didn’t smell or see us so he’ll be back. We got to within 120 yards. Had those does not been there he would have been dead! Only buck we saw. Funny how that goes.

Just wrapping up processing the elk. Should be able to get out next weekend.

    Sorry, not this year...

Now, If I had been able to call in and stock the big Bull, which the cowboys killed, it could've been a different story. This thing was huge. I think ~350 and quarters looked like an adolescent moose.

Wow. That’s a nice one. Hey all your pics you shared were awesome. Lot of hiking out there. I don’t think I could have made it through day 2. That’s a whole different ball game than my easy 1/4 mile walk to a stand.

The ridges I was hunting the first 2 days were also crazy steep, some like 50 degrees slopes with lots of blow down.

Fwiw-I'm posting more pics on my IG/FB.

In addition to the distance & obstacles the elevation kicks your butt...

    Excellent job @Tink-a-Link !

Update from here...haven't made it out in a reduction hunt yet...regular season opens on the first for me but doesn't look like I'll be making it out....with that in mind figured with rain coming tomorrow and wednesday I'm sacrificing some intrusion on my place to hit my brassica plots with some urea and/or fertilizer on other plots quick today.

I may go out Friday and be antlerless only if I do in a reduction zone hunt...will keep everyone posted if so.

My season also starts the first but I won’t hunt much at all during October. Between drill and shut down at work I won’t have much of a life beyond making money. One week I’m scheduled to work 40 hours of overtime.

At this point, I'm probably in the camp of taking some time off around here as well. I've got two and a half weeks until my colorado trip. Plus, it's going to be in the 70s and 80s for the next week plus so it's not exactly deer hunting weather. I was quickly running out of venison, so it's good to have some fresh meat in the freezer.

Well fellas plots looked good, probably best plots I've had in a while which is shocking with limited time I've had. Either way starting to get that hard horn shift for some and not for others. Highrise is doing what he did every year but the one where TONS of neighboring changes were ongoing and he high tailed out.

The clover just north of the plot in this picture is a trail more than a plot but he hits it consistently before it dumps into the new plot there I cleared just this spring. That plot is a touch over seeded IMO for bulb production out of the brassicas but lot of greens will be there especially if I hit it again with fertilizer in a week or two quick one day in October (that plot is youngest only 2 weeks old...the other side of the property got planted 4 weeks ago).
