That kid tagged that deer? DAMN. He's going to be chasing the dragon for the rest of his life!

It won’t take him long to top it haha. His sister shot a giant a couple years ago!

I've never even seen anything like that on camera, let alone in person.
Attached is the biggest deer I've ever seen on the hoof. Unfortunately, his vitals were covered up by bushes the whole encounter, and I never got a shot. He hasn't shown up on camera in two years now, so I fear the worst, but I never heard of anyone shooting him.[IMG]

He’s probably still wearing that face right now. I could only imagine seeing something like that. Wow

I’m sure he is. Me, not so much. It was a long night haha. Must be nice to not have to drag your own deer and cape them out haha.

Taking my oldest out for the first hunt of the year! I’m probably more excited than she is lol. Got news yesterday that a youth hunter that has permission to hunt another piece I hunt shot a 198” buck. Just insane. [IMG]

    Iowa...it's simply different.

Had a softball buddy I met few years back, grew up in Iowa moved to Indiana, heard we had lots of deer. Which he found to be true, but he was on year five and he was done hunting due to never seeing anything close to what he used to....he is now a tournament bass fisherman and never hunts LOL

He jokingly said one time, Ty you bust your ass for a four year old that doesn't even break 140...I could shoot two and three year olds that were bigger....

Some people have all the luck!
No matter if it’s a doe, a 120, or a 150” deer, you still have to get close to them and I have fun no matter what. Some people just live in bigger houses.

Oh for sure, I've hunted Kansas once, and Iowa this past year. Both trips passed deer I'd shoot here in a heartbeat. It is awesome! BUT the size of the racks doesn't drive me as much as the challenge regardless. While a two year old on some public ground in some states is a massive challenge, so is finding a booner in Iowa or a 150 in my neck of the woods....I'll gladly take all three challenges head on in the same way and smile ear to ear at any of them accomplished!

Ya I am blessed to live where I live for the deer hunting perspective! They still aren’t easy to kill that’s for sure. I’m still looking for my giant!

I checked the camera closest to the house before I went to work tonight. Had tons of does and fawns but no buck pics yet. I'll try to check the other cams this weekend. They are all in better spots for buck pics.

I haven't pulled many cameras really and time hasn't allowed a ton of hunting related stuff, but got a few good ones I'll probably shoot. No mega giants this year at least at my place - but few of these I got years of history with, that last one since 2016 - thousands of photos, been trying to lay him down since 2017.

**Correction it reordered them. The high angled buck, walking straight away in the photos is Highrise, the one since 2016

That is a strip of miscanthus planted few years back to separate a clover plot from this inlet off a couple bedding areas and where a fallow finger is allowed to go free with me mowing it only maybe every third year or so real high to set back.

Got out for a morning sit on a public chunk today that didn't amount to anything more than a check of my saddle gear. My next opportunity will probably be Sunday evening if the rain quits early or holds off altogether. It was good to get back in the saddle again.

What saddle you running! I’ve been strictly saddle hunting for 3 years now. This is is my 4th season. Don’t think I’ll go back to a stand any time soon! I just upgraded my Tethrd phantom to a buzzard roost saddle. Loving it so far. Also got rid of my platform and sticks and will be one sticking this year. Should be fun!
