Way to go, Atlas! I'm in kill mode tomorrow morning. Hopefully a nice big nanny doe walks by early and I can put another down. I need a confidence booster. However I'm still 8 or bigger at this point in the season. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk
Well fellas that was a ROUGH stretch of long days on stand with zero bucks that even made me grab the bow even, shoot I didn't even touch it.
I’m back in a tree. I work overnight tonight but I’ll be in a tree most of the day today and tomorrow afternoon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It was a quiet morning yesterday for me. Quite the change from the last few sits. I only saw 4 deer and none within range. Of course, that happened on the day that I made the decision to shoot the first antlerless deer that walked by. Oh well, Thursday will be my next op and it's supposed to be windy. I'm not sure what my plan will be... but I'll make it out probably for an afternoon sit that starts with a lot of research early in the day. It was pretty sweet on Saturday afternoon, I let one of my sales guys take off early to get out for an evening sit with his shotgun. He took off at 2:50, and by 3:45, he texted me a pic of a dead doe! He's been putting in his time this year with his bow, so I was happy that he finally drew blood! He earned that deer. This is the same guy who went with me to Wyoming last year. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk
I only saw the same 3 deer as last sit, 1 doe and 2 junior fawns. I was thinking of running out to my property and throw down a bunch of bait & a scent drip on Friday (give it a good 12 hrs to waft through the area) prior to my next sit. If for no other reason, to validate the 'inventory'. Thoughts? But if wind isn't gonna be good, I may just grab rifle and sit public this weekend.
The one farm we lose come Saturday till the farmer's family is done....some years that is literally Sunday other years it has been a few weeks...if the weather gets cold they don't go so we shall see. That said going to push in on that place Wednesday likely all day and again at minimum thursday evening.
Use the tactics afforded to you! Bait if you can. I say that, but take my archery equipment out during firearm season. I keep telling myself I'll pull the trigger and try my muzzle loader, but I've still only bore sighted it and never put a round through it. I've only ever bow hunted in MN, and for whatever reason, don't make the time to try out the smoke pole. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk
I was in a tree a lot, probably the most hours I have ever put in for a solid pre rut weeks hunt. I ended up in my climber almost 3/4 of that time and have nothing to show for it. Only saw 2 bucks worth getting worked up about and 1 was full throttle on a doe and could get him to stop. The weather warming up didn’t help but I didn’t give up. I might get out some more later but my enthusiasm has tanked for this year. Hopefully you all have a great season still in the works. I know after a few weeks off I’ll want to be back in a tree.
I've heard it from numerous sources, "It's a marathon, not a sprint." Take some time to recharge the batteries... the late season can always be a great time to get deer back on a bed-to-feed pattern. Bide your time, strategically pick your spot for a surgical strike on a late season buck! Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk
I think I smoked him. Might be a touch low. Found first blood and backed out for some time Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
