I’ll be out most of the next 2 days. Gonna do my best to not let a shooter slip by me again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Still putting the time in. Wind has been all over today. Had a good one cut through the woods after an early morning rattle and passed behind me and started tearing up a sapling. Just kept going. Both g2 had splits. Not much day walking going on. Actually no day walking going on.
Good wind from the east and NE in the forecast the end of this week. I've got to get a permanent crown on Fri, but will be sitting Fri & Sat... The big question is where to sit. Sat is rifle opener in the middle part of the state, so I either sit on my land or head to the mountains counties. Friday, it's a decision of which game land, and I think I've got that whittled down to a few particular spots.
Nice Ty. Right where you need him! I seen one like him full chasing a doe with a fork horn taking up the rear. Sat until 10:30 and nothing else. Extremely slow for me.
With my limited time and responsibilities I may regret it but oh well. He has giant potential. Gonna go grab a sandwich at truck here in a bit and then head right back up the tree. Leaving now and all up
Good luck. One of your big ones will be by shortly. I’m out tonight. Moved into where I seen the bigger one come down a trail. Going to let it rest and then back tomorrow.
Been a slow day for me. Been in the tree since 1 hopefully they start moving over here soon! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I had a rough day, fellas. Long story short; I had my #2 pop out behind me as I was contemplating getting down and putting a stalk on a different buck that was locked into a doe bedded about 250 yards away. I hear something, turn around, and there he is moving through my shooting lane. I quickly grabbed my bow, drew, aimed, and let loose. It happened so fast that I didn't have time to get my camera turned on, so I don't have any video of what happened. I know the shot was back, but I thought it was a fatal shot. I watched him run through the adjacent field, stop at the crest of a little rise, and then slowly walk away to the neighboring property. I found blood as it crossed the road. And a light trail through the woods, but it did up quickly. I ended up calling the same tracker that helped me a couple of years ago... but nothing could be found. This is a first for me, and I'm torn up right now. I/we spent about 4 hours grid searching (after waiting 4 hours to start) past last blood. I feel like we did everything we could but still never found anything. Hopefully, he'll show back up on camera in a few days. This feeling sucks. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk
Thanks man. It feels like I didn't do enough but I know I did everything I could. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk
Man @Tink-a-Link days like that suck, but I am happy you did a TON to find it cuz the deer deserve that. the day you don’t feel like you do is the day you need to stop hunting. Chin up, long season and hopefully he lives for you to finish another day.
That’s tough for sure! Good on you searching that much. Some people don’t put enough effort in and it sounds like you did. I saw 2 spikes and 8 does tonight. Not what I was hoping for but oh well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Go to the 1:06 mark and the second swing by when I had much better light you get a better look of him. That dude I think is a two year old...just a massive rack for that two year old body frame.
Not 100% proof of life on the deer I shot yesterday (because of the glare)... however, I'm fairly confident this is him back on cam doing deer things. There is a spot low center that, to me, looks like a blood stain. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk
Didn't hunt this morning but could have....work issues and being the "boss" makes it tough to not. However, stomach bug has been clinging to my house for a bit and let's just say I'm VERY HAPPY I wasn't up a tree a couple times today. Gonna try to make it out tomorrow even if just a couple hour sit both times....
