60 degrees here so had to rush him to taxidermist yesterday and come back to camp. They said I could come back for the antlers Sunday (tomorrow). I’ll score it when I get home tomorrow and post him up. I have tons of pics and video of him

Well Thursday hunt, no shooter bucks but saw about a dozen with some young bucks…Friday all does but a seven point two year old. Tonight before I even got settled in the blind had a buck I really want to have see 2025 walked by, just an awesome two year old for around her. Lots of seeking young bucks walked by but again zero shooters.

Tomorrow I may hunt a low risk stand and shoot an antlerless if presented the right shot.

I love sitting with my buddy and teaching him the outdoors. We had a great wind last night but they came from the unexpected side and got down wind. She only kept smelling the air and then back-circled us, so she didn’t blow. I was going to shoot her because the little guy was with me. His favorite part is the face paint. IMG_4394.jpeg

Today was so slow. Saw 4 does this morning and movement was slow till the last 40 minutes of light. 10 minutes till dark I looked to my north west and had a real big 11 pointer walking my way. He started to walk away so I grunted. He looked and decided he didn’t want anything to do with it so I snort wheezed and that made him a little mad but he kept walking. I rattled and he came running. Stopped at 30 with a bunch of small trees in the way. He then stayed in the crp field and walked by at 40 but wouldn’t enter the woods. I cried as he walked away…. I tried to set up on the corner but couldn’t find a tree with suitable shooting lanes. Couldn’t trim what I needed to trim. I would have had him at 10 yards…

That's never good when you want to get closer to the edge but can't find the proper tree.

I got a quick sit this morning before needing to come home to get some stuff done around the house.
I saw 11 (total) deer, including the same forky that walked past twice, worked the scrape I watched him create on Thursday and then circle back through about 30 minutes later while I was posting on LFTS. Ultimately, it was another sit that saw no shooters within range and only one potential at best... but he was 150 yards out in the field chasing a doe around.
That was encouraging because there was finally some rutty looking behavior going on. The little forky had his nose to the ground on both paths through. I believe it's starting! Next week should be good! I'll be able to sit most of the day on either Wednesday or Friday and the morning again on Sunday.

Saw some good action thursday-Saturday but nothing older than two years old...and wasn't presented a doe shot the one night I sat a doe spot. Took yesterday off for the wife wasn't feeling a fourth day I could tell being a solo parent LOL

Plan a few vacation days this week but not sure when quite yet.

We are lucky people to be able to spend as much time in the woods as we do. I, mostly, did the same yesterday. We got a ton of work done around our house that had taken a back seat for the last couple of months while we were preparing for Colorado and the beginning of November. The good news is that I believe I have her an experience she wants a second try at. Last week I was doing some research on different units in Colorado and possible hunt dates that would line up with her fall break and she said, "Where are WE going next year?"

Saturday I had two shooters within 20 yards and couldn't get a shot at either.. finishing up some work today and then will be chasing mountain deer until Thanksgiving and won't have signal.

    Best of luck!

Hitting the stand tomorrow fellas...I avoid hunting rain situations like the plague especially with my colorblindness.....but East winds are rare this time of year and my best stand needs them and we have them all day. 30% chance of rain essentially the whole day....gonna pack a few change of jackets and a ton of handwarmers incase I get wet cold....because of not hunting rain I don't have proper rain gear (on my list to look into a good very packable jacket at minimum).
