I’ve seen 2 does from the tree and 1 on the way in. Buck only on this hunt. Not wanting to shoot a doe here with the big guys showing up most days. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Had some small bucks sparring this AM. A chilly 43 degrees. Had a doe and yearling smelling the fresh scrape I found yesterday. Maybe a small community scrape. Feels like a good area. Had deer on me half hour before shooting light and the wind was perfect. Hopefully set for later this month!
Heck yes!!! Tell him congratulations! Love seeing kids succeed! My 9 year old and I doubled up on our first turkeys this spring. I’ll never forget that hunt! My 11 year old killed her first turkey and deer last year. I wouldn’t trade this hunts for the world! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Heck yeah guys. Keep the trophy banter coming! This is what makes a good team. While my girls don't seem too eager to join me just yet, I'm hoping that when they see mom and dad out on a mountainside chasing elk together, the desire to join in will get stronger. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk
My girls love it! They are so busy with sports but they keep begging to go out. My gun season will be short due to them still having tags. I’m ok with that! Haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
6 days of hunting the mountains. Had my target come by at 18 yards but 5 minutes too early. Sleet, snow, 30 mph winds, Temps dropped from 70 down to 35 in 5 hours. The usual for hunting the fall on the national forest in wv
I think I need to clarify. That pic is from a couple of years ago. I've not shot a buck yet this year. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk
I was contributing to the vibe that was going on with trophy pics. Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk
Well fellas I'm finally looking at a possibility of hunting for first time....work and life has made it impossible, but there is a chance I hit the stand Friday morning....if I do and the winds are predicted it won't be at a spot I'll shoot anything so low chance of something happening but never know.
Good luck. I'll be out of reception by then, so I hope good things will happen while I'm away from the civilized world. Alissa and I take off tomorrow evening after school conferences. We should be mountainside by about 9 am Friday and on to scouting and setting up camp. Hopefully, the tips that the wildlife and parks guy gave me are worth something. The weather still looks great, with a little bit of snow tonight into tomorrow. Hopefully, that'll make the chase/tracking and scouting a little easier! Sent from my SM-S918U using Tapatalk
Headed out for the morning. Looking to put down a doe. Should be easy but I’ve said that before lol. Got my military stuff this weekend so today is all I get. We start a shutdown at work next week so I won’t be out much till Halloween. Working 10 of 12 days starting next Wednesday 12.5 hour shifts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Saw quite a few this morning. Had a bigger doe come in but she angled off before I could shoot her and walked by at 35 yards. Just a little farther than I like. This one came by at 25 and I let it eat! Hit her a bit back and she wasn’t quartered as much as I thought she was but I hit something good. Blood was spraying on impact and she ran about 50-60 yards tops. Not a bad day at all. Got a little live practice and I’m ready for a big boy! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
